Yes. Even if you don't believe in the death penalty ordinarily, his genocidal crimes are such that he should be executed. But I'm not an Iraqi, so my opinion is not the crucial one.

No. All that would happen with his execution is that he would be made a matyr and in the eyes of his followers he would become even more powerful. Matyrdom tends to do that.

No, because then he'd be considered a martyr for islam. Just lock him away in solitary confinement for the rest of his miserable life

Nope. I'm not an advocate of the death penalty. Even though I would very much like to see him dead, I have to stay consistent across the board. We don't get to pick and choose, so in my opinion he lives.
