He calls himself Spider-man, and lives on the corner. He says he jumped rope for my sins, so I gave him a dollar. I know it's not 10%, but I needed some porn and booze to fill my insatiable hethen appetite. This question really has no point, but since I got to level 5, I can ask however many I want. Just write whatever you want, and I will give 10 points to the most outlandish thing I read.
It's almost 5 o'clock...woo hoo!

ever since Man existed, he wanted to answer questions (the almighty "why ...") and man didn't want to think, so He INVENTED stuff that are now religion and put into the Old Testament along with a false God, a evil, immoral, ignorant, unfair etc etc etc God... THEN, Jesus came unto the Earth, and showed man what perfection is, what a true God should be (except that Jesus din't help ppl, except if he happened to meet him face-to-face), He teached us that the past doesn't matter, that the future matters, and that the Old Testament was man-made and shouldn't exist... of course, MAN had to intervine in again, and put togheter the Bible that consisted what ppl wanted to hear... man banished the other gospeles into darkness (the Gospel of Judah, Toma and another ~30)... So, why do we stil follow a Bible that showes us that God is not perfect and quite immoral?

Are you saying that if God is so real and good and omnipresent yada yada that He is the reason that evil and harm to one another is His fault? If so then if you believe that evolution is in place then isn't evolution at fault too cuz it is what it is today? i am confused as to how we live today are you saying mankind itself is not at fault for the evil, or harmful things that happen when it is us doing it? We created the 'nukes, the chemicals, somebody buttf*cked a monkey and aids is rampant, (oh and if you go on Smokinggun.com ther is a man committing beastiality with a pitbull puppy yech!) people don't wash their hands so bacteria is spreading....yada yada Do you see what I mean? Who is really at fault?

Please this is a sincere question not bashing or criticizing anyone or their beliefs. Just want to understand you

God is (by definition) a being than which no greater being can be thought.
Greatness includes greatness of virtue.
Therefore, God is a being than which no being could be more virtuous. But virtue involves overcoming pains and dangers.
Indeed, a being can only be properly said to be virtuous if it can suffer pain or be destroyed.

A God that can suffer pain or is destructible is not one than which no greater being can be thought. For you can think of a greater being, that is, one that is nonsuffering and indestructible.
Therefore, God does not exist.

There are many different groups who 'claim to be Christian' yet, by their practices --- You'd never say it.

Which ones do you consider to be "faux Christianity"? (As far as your definition of Christianity is concerned, i mean - not mine.)

Mind if I prove you wrong?
First, God wants US to go against all the evils, pains, injustice, etc. and solve them without his help. This will prove that we love him.
Also, all the different religions originate from one point, one or more than one greater-being. So all believe in a God in one form or the other, so one must be right!
I also will use Ocum's Razor against you. What sounds simpiler, the universe created itself, or the universe was created by a higher being.
I think you have been watching a little too much Contact!

I am Wiccan and very proud of it. It is the christians that brought about satan. We do not have any false gods. We do not need a church to worship in because we worship all nature everyday not just on sunday. We also do not pass around an offering plate to collect money. We not take from the earth without giving something in return. We do no harm, not even to a tree without asking for its forgiveness. We do not try to convert anyone or try to push our religion on anyone. I have been confronted many times by a local baptist church and to me they were more like a cult than a religion. We dont hand out pamplets. We believe in herbal healing, meditation and spiritual cleansing. No sacrificing at all. We do not condem other religions for their beliefs, so why do they condem us. If given a chance, they would see that we are not what they make us out to be. BLESSED BE!

How many friggen times will I have to post this question?
Come on people. Look it up. The "Darwin recanted" story is a lie.
Lady Hope, a creationist, made up the lie after Darwin died. In fact, Darwin's daughter Henrietta said;

"I was present at his deathbed. Lady Hope was not present during his last illness, or any illness. I believe he never even saw her, but in any case she had no influence over him in any department of thought or belief. He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier. We think the story of his conversion was fabricated in the U.S.A. . . . The whole story has no foundation whatever."

And in fact, one of the last famous quotes from Darwin was the following;
"I would rather be regarded as a descendant of a monkey than of some people that might be named."

And most of us applaud him for his work, his vision and of course, his courage in the face of religious zealotry.

So please, stop spreading this lie ok creationists? Thanks.

When did we become aware of our existence and cease to live on instinct alone?

2006-07-21 09:43:37 · 12 answers · asked by Sammy B 1

According to the logic many of you have used against me, b/c I am talking about this monkey, I therefore believe in him, like when I talk about god or JC on these posts. Just b/c we atheists talk about your false gods doesn't mean we believe in them, we just want you to stop believing so we can quit with the religious wars (Iraq vs US, Israel vs Hezbollah; my god is better than your god).

1. Evil:
Because evil exists, God cannot be all-powerful. all-knowing and loving and good at the same time.
2. Pain:
Because God allows pain, disease and natural disasters to exist, he cannot be all-powerful and also loving and good in the human sense of these words.
3. Injustice:
Destinies are not allocated on the basis of merit or equality. They are allocated either arbitrarily, or on the principle of "to him who has, shall be given, and from him who has not shall be taken even that which he has." It follows that God cannot be all-powerful and all-knowing and also just in the human sense of the word.
4. Multiplicity:
Since the Gods of various religions differ widely in their characteristics, only one of these religions, or none, can be right about God.
5. Simplicity:
Since God is invisible, and the universe is no different than if he did not exist, it is simpler to assume he does not exist (see Occam's Razor).
None of these criticisms apply to the God of pantheism, which is identical with the universe and nature.
