ever since Man existed, he wanted to answer questions (the almighty "why ...") and man didn't want to think, so He INVENTED stuff that are now religion and put into the Old Testament along with a false God, a evil, immoral, ignorant, unfair etc etc etc God... THEN, Jesus came unto the Earth, and showed man what perfection is, what a true God should be (except that Jesus din't help ppl, except if he happened to meet him face-to-face), He teached us that the past doesn't matter, that the future matters, and that the Old Testament was man-made and shouldn't exist... of course, MAN had to intervine in again, and put togheter the Bible that consisted what ppl wanted to hear... man banished the other gospeles into darkness (the Gospel of Judah, Toma and another ~30)... So, why do we stil follow a Bible that showes us that God is not perfect and quite immoral?

"Why don't we just burn the Old Testament?"

I'll just say- if it was God's Will, His Will be done.

Religion is tricky...all religions have one common thread, they all believe in be good...good things happen....be not so good well you get the picture. The word of God in any context is subject to the writers interpretation and interpretation is everything, how the writer (s) of the bible (old or new testament) The Koran the buddist writings whatever interpreted what god said, the events whatever. EVERYONE tells stories to make themselves look better people the love look better. Any way I don't believe you should go word for word as thru the generations many things do not apply. However the ones that do are good rules to live by (7 deadlies/10 commandments) If you have this questions of God/bible you shouls speak to someone very educated in the facts. Also looking into your heart to find out why these questions are coming up would be wise. y opinion faith is never a bad thing

Where in the world did you get the idea that Jesus said the Old Testament was only man-made? From a Mormon point of view, Jesus Christ not only made references to the Old Testament in the New Testament, but also in the Book of Mormon. For example, He said, "And now, behold I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things. Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah." (3 Nephi 23:1). The Old Testament has not even begun to wear out its purpose and mission. You might want to read some good Bible commentaries. I am reading "The Fourth Thousand Years - From David to Christ" by W. Cleon Skousen. People keep assuming things that would make more sense if they were only to study what was really going on at the time.

There is no question that man has substituted his own thinking for the Word. Jesus told the religious leaders that they had substituted their ideas for the Word. They killed him for pointing this out.

He told them that they were not speaking for God. He told them how to read the Old Testament. He told them that everything in the books of the law and prophets was just about him!!! So they said - You make yourself God! The question then was not should he die but where and when.

I imagine pointing out some mistakes of Nicolae Ceasescu, a few years back in Romania, would have resulted in similar unpleasant results. No two week paid vacation in Mangalia.

You talk about men inventing things because they did not want to think? I believe they invent things because they think to much and because many like to control other people (have followers).

first off as a Jew I am not offended at your question

secondly I wish the Christians would reject the "OT" and not use it any more.

Nothing would make me happier because then finally Judaism would have nothing at all to do with Christianity.

the problem is that the "OT" is needed to justify Jesus as the Messiah (even though it dosent).

and all that would be left of Chrstianity would be identical to paganism.

you have a God that has a son that comes down to earth. Sounds like pagan mythology. That's why they will never do it.

but if you want to start a church that preaches that go right a head I am behind you 100%

Hitler liked to burn books, maybe you can be friends with him!

You cant burn history, just repeat it!

I would read that old testament so you can See why you live in a world like you do.

Who are the countries that stand for freedom and justice and morals? the ones based on the Old Testament. America Israel Great Britain Italy and Australia.

France dumped it and they are a moral wasteland, along with most of Europe. however, they are learning quite quickly that freedom requires justice and standing on moral bedrock.

Man thinks it can be like God like Babel and it will fail!

Man likes to have no rules like Sodom and it will fail!

Old Testament = modern history!

As for Jesus, he fulfilled the promise of the OT, but did not dump the OT.

HE taught love God with all your mind body and soul.

love your neighbor as yourself

How do you do these, well start with the old testament law!

Exodus 20

So your Question is basically farcical!

The reason we don't burn the Old Testament is because we use it to show where man has made large mistakes in the past and we learn from them so we are not doomed to repeat them . Also it has many prophecies that have come true or that is yet to come . God bless you

we need the Old Testament, because it is history. It explains things like Passover and other traditions that not only Jews but Catholics and other Chritians participate in. It also shows us why Jesus had to come. It is important.

Because some people believe in the bible, and the old testament is a part of the bible. and you don't have to be a Jew to believe in the bible.

Read Romans. In there Paul says that we have to remember what sin is and still strive not to. But he says, also, that we are just not good enough to get there on our own, so, we need Christ to lead us! Good Luck!
