However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

Her family is all Jedi.
I do not know much about Jedis.
I hope they not a cult.
They said it is the second largest religion in New Zealand and the fourth largest religion in England and Wales.
Are there any Jedis who can tell me about the religion?

I am astounded and also saddened at all the facetious questions put on this forum. It seems nine out of ten are only put to get a rise from someone, and not truly seek what is accurate. Lift your game, people.

Come on, show them some compassion.

They have obviously met with a huge struggle in their lives to have to give up on reason.

As atheists, we can advance our understanding of the world and the meaning of life, but we mustn't become elitist and begin bashing theists.

Since belief in God is a coping mechanism, shall we at least afford believers some support in their time of need? Through this and the belief in God at the worst of times, won't they eventually make it back to the realms of reason?

Are not hope and emotional support more fundamental to our survival than a life filled with rational understanding?

Cut them some slack.

Each team is praying to God to let them win the Superbowl. He'll obviously pick the team who prays the hardest. So, who is God going to pick this year as his winning team? And do you think that he will ever let Janet Jackson do the halftime entertainment again?

How can I work on having more faith in God? I stay at home all day resting because I am 5 months pregnant with twins, while my husband works 6 days a week. Because I'm not working, money is really tight, which I'm stressed out about. I fuss about his way of paying bills, rent, giving money to the church, and everything that I feel could possibly hinder us in the long run. No matter how much he makes, I still find something wrong, and end up being miserable. We have 5 kids and a very limited budget. When he approaches me saying that we are giving the church $100.00 out of this check, knowing that all we are going to have after we pay bills is a little over a two hundred dollars, it makes me depressed. We have to feed our kids and ourselves for two more weeks before he gets paid again! Not to mention gas, and toiletries, etc. He tells me that I don't have enough faith, and that I am hindering our blessings, and that giving to God should come 1st. How can I have the same amount of faith?

"They already teach evolution, an aethiest topic that tells kids that they come from dust, in schools."

I fear I may never stop laughing. What can ı do?

I am Mormon, or LDS. I'm not the best example of one by far! But I was wondering how nice the people are that follow my religion are outside of Utah.

*Sorry to bring up such a touchy subject, I'm sure of that. All hate mail is fine by me, adds more input on the subject.*

Just responding to someone's answer I read, that said, atheists try to 'convert' people to atheism with hate. Actually, we aren't trying to convert anyone. Just stating our belief that all religion is ridiculous. If you feel threatened by that then, sorry, but too bad.

Somehow many people assume being an atheist is being immune to ignorance. For this I think we need an atheist church where knowledgable and wise atheist teach new believers. Here are the dumb things low-thinking atheist need correcting on.

1) Religion is the cause of all wars.
- Yea this would be true except for those minor things like world war I, world war II, civil war, vietnam war, korean war, etc.
- Most so called religious wars anyway are led and conducted by leaders who could care less about a religion but want power and money.

2) No religion and there will be world peace.
- 99.9% of convicts and prisoners arent locked up because they did a religious crime. Greed, fighting, sexual lust are elements of human nature that wont go away no matter how atheistic a society is.

I'm tempted to join and take vows in yet another church. But in my very core I am opposed to being a part of yet another division of "the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace " that was Jesus prayer. I so want a 'family'. What can I do? Only serious and sensitive answers. My soul is tormented with this question.

I love it so much. Whenever (certain) creationists ask why monkeys aren't still turning into humans, I try to close my eyes and picture that. I'm not sure if there should be a kind of simian chrysalis, if it should be like the 'morphing' you see in Hollywood, or if it should be just that there's a monkey standing there and then suddenly, kaboom!, it's transformed into a person.

Additionally I like to picture the 'why aren't there half-monkey half-humans walking around?' question in my head too. I wonder which half should be monkey and which half should be human...
