Yes my dear , as long as you truely feel sorry for whatever you may have done and determine consciously that you are never going to do it again .

Herein lies the problem with Christianity. A person can do the most horrible things in the Universe and repent on their deathbed. According to Christianity, if they are truly remorseful in their heart and accept that God is their Lord and Savior, they are saved. So, what does that do for the people they abused, hurt and otherwise terrorized? What about the victims who are told to "forgive and forget" and not expect justice in this lifetime as God/god will take care of it? Besides, Christians always say they are forgiven but nobody else is. The truth is nobody knows even if there is a God. At best, it's a best guess. At worst, it's a mass control system to keep people from rising up in vigilantism for all that is inherently wrong with the application/misapplication of justice in this world.

Wow, I read the other answers and am again shocked at the misconceptions of how the whole sin-forgiveness thing works.
Yes, God will forgive any sin but one, if you repent. Therein lies the misunderstanding. Repentence is not forgiveness and forgiveness is not repentence. To repent in the archaic means to turn and walk in the other direction. God already forgave us (I'm speaking Christian here, no offense to other religions) when Jesus died on the cross, but, and this is a big ole BUT, you must repent.
Do you see the difference? If you do not turn and walk in the other direction from your sin, you have not repented. A previous answer suggested it is a problem with Christianity in that on our deathbed we can ask for forgiveness and will be accepted into heaven. I am a Christian and do not believe that to be true. If you spend your entire life knowingly committing sin, then you are deliberately disobeying God, you are consciously turning your face from Him, and that is the one unforgivable sin.
But what if you didn't know you were sinning? In the case of Jeffrey Dahmer, his mental state was so messed up, he honestly thought he was doing an okay thing. But when he was shown the errors of his ways, he supposedly repented. Yeah, I wanted him to burn for his crimes, but such is the power of grace. That same grace is offered to you and me too.

Hitler could have been forgiven if he had repented and asked for forgiveness.
What we have to remember and understand is we are not God. Only He knows what is in our hearts and whether we are truly repentant.
As I stated, Hitler could have been forgiven, but I don't believe he was.
But, I think if you blasphemy the Holy Spirit that is unforgivable. ( I am not sure about this one )

I believe he does but i also believe that before we get to the stage of being accepted into heaven we reincarnate many times to learn what we didn't learn in our last life and that means to experience what we did to others. Hitler was probably on his first life because he had a lot to learn and he was completely evil. You don't just get to do bad things and then at the end of your life say 'Sorry God' and then all is forgiven. You cop it in your next life!

unless ur muslim u won't be forgiven coz islam is the true religion and even if u r muslim u have to ask for allah's forgiveness from ur heart and vow that u would never commit any sins again and go on the way that God has shown u.. then its up to the God, whether he chooses to forgive u or not depending on the cleaniness of ur heart.

It's a very good question. Does God forgive Jeffrey Dahmer and Timothy McVeigh? IMO, yes.
Remember Norman Schwartkopf's quote regarding terrorists and whether we should forgive them or not: "I believe that forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting."

interesting question. i do not believe that He will forgive all. by that, i mean that He will follow the rules set about, that those who seek Him, through Jesus, will be saved.
as for hitler...that is a touchy subject, and i missed the question as i am new to this forum. it was dr. hawkin's question that brougth me here.
the answer, as i am taught is: if hitler sought salvation in the name of Jesus, then "yes", he is afforded the same salvation as others who follow the teachings of Jesus for their entire lifetime.
this is where the "judge not, lest ye be judged" comes into play. not that as citizens, we cannot condemn the human form to prison or even death, for their crimes, but not having the divinity of the Father, we are not qualified to judge their immortal soul.

He does if you repent. Meaning being truly sorry for your actions and doing whatever it takes to change.Jesus was asked how many times in one day should we forgive a fellow believer that sins against us ,and he said 70 times seven.God cetainly doesnt expect us to forgive others more than he himself forgives us.
