I'm tempted to join and take vows in yet another church. But in my very core I am opposed to being a part of yet another division of "the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace " that was Jesus prayer. I so want a 'family'. What can I do? Only serious and sensitive answers. My soul is tormented with this question.

Cathy, I've had the same problem myself. Right now I'm a member of a forum (of a heavy metal band), and there are many Christians there who feel the same way you and I do. I am actually thinking of starting up something, not a church per se, or a "cult", just a group of Christians who don't have a church home (and who really want nothing to do with church), but something so that we can socialize and have fellowship. That way we can all help each other without going to church.
After all, the only purposes that church is supposed to serve is for fellowship, and to help Christians grow.
Please contact me if you would like to know more about my idea. I'm just starting out with it, and if you would like to be involved, I would love to have you.

Congregations vary. I know some people (many) who worship in places where they don't totally agree with the message because the people that do agree on the message can't agree on anything else... Keep searching and praying.
As stated above, a non-denominational church is probably better. Look for people that work together and get things done, not those that are divisive. And no, you do not have to accept that everyone is right and it doesn't matter. The New Testament sets a standard every church should aspire to, not just box off their preferred section of it and ignore the rest.

I would pray that the Lord will lead you to what you describe. There maybe a church directory for your area. Maybe the Lord will move you out of the area to find such a church, whatever, be assured that the Lord has a plan and purpose for your life, and that he loves to give us the desires of our heart, when it comes inline with His desires, which Im sure your longing for - is.
In the meantime, enjoy the Lord, develop your relationship with Him and lean on Him for everything you need.
I would like to invite you to a group of Christians here online, who really love the Lord. The group is called Jesus in our Midst. Here is the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jesus_in_our_midst
I am sure you would be delighted if you give it a try.
Im Dawn from the United Kingdom. Its nice to meet you.

We all need a sense of belonging. We can go from longing to belonging only when we have a good, close relationship with God. The closer the relationship with Him, the less likely we are to have that longing because God put that longing there for us to come to Him first. If I were you, I would try going to God and just tell Him how you feel. This is not easy to do if you never had a close relationship with your own family. But if you try you'll see a difference. God said if we draw close to Him, He'll draw close to us. I have found from my own experience that this is TRUE. God is not someone indifferent to us or distant to us. He LONGS for us. Think about that...He longs for us to come to Him. He wept over Jerusalem saying He longed to gather them in His arms like a hen gathers her chicks. That's a parent pulling their children to them. I hope this helps. You can go from longing to belonging and it doesn't have anything to do with church. It's in the relationship.

If you are a Chrisitian, then you have to accept other denominations and accept that they are the same Christians as you are. I've been in a Baptist, Methodist, and other churches. They all teach the same thing, but beware of Christian Cults.

hmmm......difficult question.
seeing as joining churches isn't working for you, don't join another one. ask yourself what makes a person "true hearted"?
are those the people who you see helping others? those who try to spread the word of god? decide what you value, and seek those people out.
make them your friends, because it seems to me you want those of action, who live the way jesus told them to. if you follow what you think is god's word, i'm sure you'll meet other like minded people along the way. just make sure you look, and don't avoid someone just because your first impression wasn't a good one. give people a chance.

I know a lot of people that do their best to walk the teachings of Jesus but they don't call themselves Christians because of the dark behavior attached to that designation. Pursue Wicca, Buddhism, or other earth religions to truly follow his example in his words.
