Prophets are a real miracle/ phenomenon of history. Christianity as a means of control outlawed ESP and divinely annointed ONLY THEIRS as saints, prophets etc. It all sounds a bit like science versus nature. The balance depends upon who has the most votes, but what if the prophet prophesies against the church how will the christian save himself if he thinks by indoctrination that the gift of prophesy is satanic.

You would think they would all have some other form of divine communication. Does this imply that everything goesback to an original religion?

Somehow I doubt I will have problems finding any chalice guys and gals out there but I will give it a shot.
The whole purpose of the Christian Church is "No creed but Christ." (If you are not a Disciple check out this website before you continue to answer this question: http://www.disciples.org )

If the original creed is "No creed but Christ" how do you justify adding bylaws in the denomination about gay clergy?

I AM NOT SAYING IT IS RIGHT OR WRONG! I am simply saying, how can it be placed in this denomination's bylaws when the one creed says no other creeds but Christ?
(I am a lifer.)

After being cooped up in a boat for weeks while God was drowning every man, woman, and child on earth, Noah and his clan finally beached and the party started.
And what a party! God told Noah’s clan to be fruitful and multiply and they wasted no time getting the begatting going.
Noah however was the mother of all partiers and eventually passed out from partying too hard.

Later something very curious happens:
(Gen 9:24-25 NRSV) When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him, he said, “Cursed be Canaan; lowest of slaves shall he be to his brothers.”
What did his son do? Noah wakes up and he immediately knows what his son had done to him, and tells his son that because of what he had done to him, he will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers. This not only affects him, but all of his descendants.
What did his son do? What did he do??
Well… here it goes… hang on to your seats. Are you ready?
His son… his son… saw him… he… he… saw him…… naked.

Isn't smart to question things and have an open mind?

With all sorts of natural disasters running rampant in our world does God feel bad about them? Can God feel remorse if God is infallible? Being infallible entails not being wrong and being remorseful entails feeling sorry for your actions. Therefore if God feels bad for something God did then what God did was wrong which would make God fallible. On the other hand if God doesn't feel bad for the death of millions of innocents through natural causes is he really the sort of God people should worship?

I ask this not to cause trouble or start fights. I'm not trying to convert anyone away from their beliefs. I only ask to gain understanding. Please if you answer I'm really only interested in the theist perspective because I know what the atheists are going to say. Also I ask you only attack my arguement, not me, and that you provide supporting details.

Science is good!

Knowledge is great!

Any religion that denies knowledge and prides itself on belief is pointless!

"vast secrets". I've been learning a little bit about Scientology and I don't understand why so many people believe what he says, unless I'm missing the part about where he got all of his information. I'm very interested in the subject and am just looking to learn a little bit more about it....any information anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

War - hasn't there been war on Earth since Jesus died?

Famine - Hasn't the Earth undergone year after year of famine somewhere.

Destruction - There were hurricanes and tsuamies before George Bush, there have been volcano eruptions that brought about a global freeze between the 1400s and the 1800s

Couldn't I have a "vision with Jesus" and write a book about how theres going to be wars and famine and people are going to try and preach about a false Jesus and there will be sin on Earth, murder, plauge, rape, lies and theft, CAUSE WE KNOW THESE THINGS ARE DAILY.

I don't think theres any crediblity to these Bible prophesies.

The only Bible prophesy I believe, is if I add one number to the page number and turn the page, the page number on the new page would be the same as the result of my equation from the previous page number and adding the number 1.

It is a serious problem that churches are silent about "political issues" such as homo "marriage" because they fear losing their tax free status ? A strong church would pay their full tax share and strongly speak out instead of doing the devils work with their silence !

A long time ago, but not as long ago as scientists say, God decided to drown everyone on earth because men and women were wicked in heart and their thoughts were continually evil and primetime TV hadn’t been invented yet to capitalize on all of it.

But Noah found favor with God because other than his drinking problem, Noah was squeaky clean. Also Noah had a large family who were all very fertile and full of love so God knew they could repopulate the whole earth in no time.

So God told Noah that even though he was going to kill all of the humans, he wanted to save the skunks, the houseflies, the sharks, the rattlesnakes, the scorpions, the spiders, etc… so Noah was to build a large Ark and march millions of species onboard from all over the earth so they will be saved from the flood.

i was up all night. every one else in the house was asleep. i live in a fairly compact apartement except for a hall that leads to the front door. after my mom woke up we were both walking around and we would have seen someone near the door. at one point my mom looked at the door and saw that it was wide open.
we leave it locked at night. one of the locks can only be opened from the inside or with a key. i didn't open the door and my mom didn't open the door. the button that keeps the door knob from being turned from the outside was disabled.
there was no one in the house even though it couldn't have been open for more then a minute. anybody who tried to sneak in and left would have made noise moving that fast in a house they didn't know.

Okay,

Being and though we never completely understand other religions I would like for everyone to share something about their religion that others don't know, don't understand don't comprehend.

This is for everyone, even atheists. Maybe give your reason for being what you are or what ever. But we need to learn how to overcome our own ignorance and to get knowledge.

The primary leaders of the founding fathers of the USA were not Bible-believing Christians; they were deists including:

George Washington
Benjamin Franklin
Thomas Jefferson
James Madison
Thomas Paine
Ethan Allen
James Monroe

Thomas Jefferson believed Jesus was an inspired moral teacher, but not divine. He called the Trinity: “Incomprehensible jargon” and “metaphysical insanity.”

Benjamin Franklin wasn’t sure if Jesus was God or not, but said he didn’t plan to spend time worrying about it.

Thomas Paine called Christianity: “a fable, which, for absurdity and extravagance is not exceeded by anything that is to be found in the mythology of the ancients.”

so um...when Christians manufacture lies to make themselves look better, how is it possible to enter heaven?

We can't pray or read Bible stories so why should we be able to talk of witches and their beliefs- it seems like a double standard.

It's like being nice to your friends while being bad towards your parents, and still expecting them to consider you a good son or daughter. Besides, no one is truly more righteous than anyone else. Jesus's sacrificed himself for your sins, and it's arrogant to think that you are saved by your own righteousness. If you don't believe, you won't go to hell, you just won't receive eternal life.

I have noticed that the world of spiritual beings who cling to mediumships or are driven to hunger for energy and answers from another dimension, are generally likely to seek messages from another person even if they themselves are considered experienced mediums. So if they are spiritually higher and in tune with another dimention, what faith does that person have in the powers of their deity that they would want to know what he was up to. If the medium cannot trust their own spiritual intuition, why should anyone trust the medium.
