Isn't smart to question things and have an open mind?

YES! I WISH more people had an open mind. Too many have the attitude that " If you don't agree with me, you suck". { maybe not in those words...but you get my point}. If we ALL could have more of a "Live and let Live" attitude, the world would be a much better place.

I'm Catholic and even I question things after going to Catholic schools since I was 3 years old. Now, being 23, I still question the religion because it's all you can do. Everything before your own existence is a mystery. That goes for everyone. You could be lied to, you could be told the truth. How do you know? I know what I believe in and who am I to say what others should believe in or that my way is right? I think questions are only natural and should be welcomed. It's only to help understand, or see another point of view.

I'm a Christian, and I try to keep a very open mind and research the things I believe. This is so I understand my beliefs and know that I hold to them for solid and healthy reasons. I believe questioning your faith can often-times make it stronger if you have an open heart to whatever answers you may find. I don't have a "problem" with other people questioning what I believe, but if they are questioning something I am certain of, I'm not going to change my mind.

I do realize everyone is on a journey in life, and often times there are a lot of hard-to-answer questions when it comes to faith and religion. Nobody should have a problem with anyone else asking questions, because we all have them, if we are honest with ourselves and eachother.

The problem is that the people on here are not questioning for truth but wanting others to agree with them. Some people on here only present insults and antagonize Christians and other religions. It is great to have a open mind and ask questions but the motives must be pure. To ask questions about something that haven't really been research on your own shows really bad intentions.

Yes it is smart to question things and to have an open mind. I am a Catholic Christian and I do not have any problem with others questioning my religion and faith. In fact, I welcome questions as a way to answer and explain the beliefs I have and why. There are so very many misconceptions, especially regarding the Catholic church, if any one chooses to be against it and not believe, that is okay, but at least their choice will be based on truth and fact....not misconception and misrepresentation by others regarding my faith. By my answering their questions, they will have truth and facts. Good question.

It's not just Christians, don't label. Muslims are not very open to criticism (hahah look at the entire Middle East, it's pitted with war and despair and dying children because people are so obsessed with faith!). Also many Hindus are dead set with their faith, I've worked with many and I could tell from all my experiences that there were very devout, pious people.

It's easy to pick on Christians because they are the religious whipping dog of society. Just like all faiths, their religion is based on thought and events from long, long ago that are hard to prove entirely or at all, even. All religions are formed to explain life and why people are here and where they go afterwards.

It's desparaging and discouraging to tell someone that their Heaven does not exist. They believe in it, it gives them courage to be a good person. It makes them get up in the morning. Who cares if you think its real or not? Every civilization for THOUSANDS and thousands of years has had a faith they were devout in and most of them, looking back, look stupid and ridiculous and far fetched. Our faiths will one day appear that way too, I bet. However, TODAY it makes people happy. It's just stupid to keep debating and putting one another down for it. Whatever motivates someone is good.

Yes, the key phrase is "open mind." I don't mind questions in general because it makes me look harder through the scriptures, and it is going to get me ready to answer teenagers in the future. I think some people ask questions without an open mind, however, especially when they take things out of context or refuse to study on their own, or if they keep asking the same question over and over again.

It has been my experience on here that no Christian has taken offense to anyone questioning their religion. Most of them view that questioning as an opportunity to witness to others. It is the non-Christians who are agressive and abusive here. And that makes me sad. It is smart to question things and have an open mind. And that goes for non-Christians as well as for Christians.

When an edict or ""Holy Bull"" comes down from The Vatican - there is no questioning it!

I left the Cult because even the Arch Bishop of Vancouver could not answer my questions without referring to the ""special knowledge that tradition has given the church"".

Why do Christians and Catholics have a problem questioning each other?
If we can figure that out -half the battle will be over.
