Where Did L. Ron Hubbard get all of his information from...how does he know all of these (see details)?

"vast secrets". I've been learning a little bit about Scientology and I don't understand why so many people believe what he says, unless I'm missing the part about where he got all of his information. I'm very interested in the subject and am just looking to learn a little bit more about it....any information anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I appreciate everyone's input, you might be right, but I'm more interested in why all these people follow his beliefs...what backup does he provide. I can't believe so many people would follow a religion just because he said these things happened...

PLEASE don't answer with some sort of religious agenda...I'm looking for one answer...where did it come from, I don't want to know about Christianity or anything else, beause I am not looking for a religion..I have one. This is purely for educational purposes, so PLEASE don't use my question as an opportunity to stand on your soapboxes...I'm just looking for an answer...possibly from a Scientologist.

Perhaps he fell down and had visions, like Paul.

Christianity is really Paulism. Paul never knew Jesus, never had any contact with him except apparently inside his head. Hubbard is no less believable than Paul.

You are right L.Ron Hubbard never claimed to have invented Scientology, only to have discovered it.
The religious heritage of Scientology goes back to atleast 10,000 years ago to the extensive written religious works of the Vedic Hymns or the Veda originating in the East.
The Dhyana followed this appearing in India. Dharma was a legendary Hindu sage.
Dhyana again means Knowing and Looking. The Veda, the Tao, the Dharma, all mean Knowing. They are all religious works. These are actually the religions of about two thirds of the population of earth.
The Dhyana is what the Buddhists talk about and is their background.
There were many Bohdis, or Buddhas.The greatest was Gautama Sakyamuni (Buddha). He was looked upon as the founder of the Dhyana, but it existed quite a long time before he came along.Guatama Buddha was a great teacher, and scientific philosopher.
He wrote in Dharma-Parda:
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. It is founded upon our thoughts. It is made up of our thoughts."
Buddhism spread by Guatama Buddha and his followers through India and into China and created a civilization where before there was none. Just a barbarism.
This is the same theme of Knowing and religious philosophy that appears in Asia Minor(Middle East) 500 years later at the beginning of our own date, 2000 years ago. When Jesus appeared on the scene.
Hubbard was born in the West (1911),but travelled to the East at a young age.His Dad was a US Naval Officer and was stationed there. He started his research into the human spirit in the East at an early age.
He returned to the USA and studied the sciences, engineering,
nuclear physics (which was a brand new subject back then).
He continued to research and apply scientific thinking and methods to his research. W.W. 2 interrupted his research but gave him a new area of experience and observation of life and it's effects.
He developed Dianetics from this using past and also the present research he did while recovering in a Naval Hospital, with other injured war veterans.
He published his discoveries in 1950 with the book "Dianetics the Modern Science of Mental Health."
This was the beginning of what then became 2 years later
Scientology, since Dianetics was more about the mind and what it was doing and through continued research he finally isolated
what was causing the mind to behave a certain way and affect the individual adversly, i.e. the human spirit.
From these discoveries he was able to develop technology
to fully rehabilitate and restore native spiritual potential and ability.
In Scientology the is what is called "The Bridge to Total Freedom"

Basically Hubbard built the Bridge. That fact that there are higher states of existence than those we currently experience
has always been the case.
A workable way to arrive there has never been developed until now.
Where he got his information from is really more a matter of being able to find and verify the actual thruths about life in a huge sea of unevaluated data.

He made it all up. Just like every other religion out there.

Which explains why so many of today's religions have flat-out stolen or plagerized from older religions. Christianity, for example has got to be one of the most UNoriginal religions ever... perhaps second to the Roman gods which were just the Greek gods with new names. Most christians end up shocked to find out that the myths of a virign birth, raising form the dead after 3 days, being the only son of the only deity, etc, etc are all myths that existed centuries before christianity ever did. Point that out and they tend to get angry and defensive because it's pretty convincing evidence that there is nothing unique or divine about it.

L. Ron Hubbard was a science-fiction writer. He made up the myth of Scientology as a novel. I don't know how it became a religion. The Scientologists believe that Hubbard was a prophet who was inspired with heavenly knowledge.

L Ron Hubbard was a science fiction author that decided to start a religion to prove a point. Unfortunately, when he died, his followers took him seriously, and turned him into some sort of mystic know-it-all savior that still instructs them from beyond the grave.

As his time as a popular sci-fi writer he accumulated money and used his spare time to research around the world to find answers to questions that people have, also to then turn it into something which people can actually use. He did have to turn the reasearch into publications that were in his own words as such but it wasn't just 'made up' It was researched and still today remains the most advanced and complete religion in existance.

Its very interesting comparing what Hubbard told people he did, compared to the official documents from the organisations he spoke about like the US Navy or his College - they don't match at all. You will get different answers from a scientologist than you will looking at the official documents on Hubbard.

In short his sources were Freud, other psychiatrists, Black Magick, & Sci-Fi - I kid you not...

Some people believe what he says because they do not want to think about having a God of Divine Love over them. Belief that aliens made us without any theory about who made the aliens? Sounds like dismissal of God to me.
