Somehow I doubt I will have problems finding any chalice guys and gals out there but I will give it a shot.
The whole purpose of the Christian Church is "No creed but Christ." (If you are not a Disciple check out this website before you continue to answer this question: http://www.disciples.org )

If the original creed is "No creed but Christ" how do you justify adding bylaws in the denomination about gay clergy?

I AM NOT SAYING IT IS RIGHT OR WRONG! I am simply saying, how can it be placed in this denomination's bylaws when the one creed says no other creeds but Christ?
(I am a lifer.)

I really think people have problem understanding this: The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) This is a denomination and I am talking about it in particular. It's symbol is a red chalice with a St. Andrews cross in it. It is not about pushing religion down people's throats but wanting to know about a specific in the denomination.

It is difficult to look at Christianity with untainted eyes because what we believe is formed from past experiences with other Christians and what is taught in the church you attend. I agree that it should be up to each individual church to decide who they allow to hire as minister, but the general church is above that. People work to be ordained without a specific church in mind (*like me). The general/regional church had to make certain verbal standings in the name of politics. There are DOC churches in GA that do not support the region or the general church financially because they do not believe in the political decisions the region and general church has made.

You can not run a denomination without support. How many churches in GA would cut off financial support if the region decided to allow gay individuals to be ordained. I think it should be by church as well but that means the ordaination process would have to change completly (would one still have ordained standing after he/she left the church they worked at, would each person need a church position gaurenteed before they can be ordained?) These are all questions I am sure the regional and general church think about when this topic comes about.

Some DOC members believe being homosexual is just as bad as committing murder. So their defense is that we would not ordain a murderer so why would we consider ordaining a homosexual.

Now, I am NOT for OR against gay ordination, I am just stating what I know to be true as well as visual interpretation of experiences I have witnessed.

I hope this helps!

I do not attend a diciples of christ congregation, yet I do attend a church of Christ congregation. I use the word congregation because, the term denomination is what the christian church should not be divided into, but hold true to the first century church's example of one church and no denominations of that church. Our two churches are similar in most beliefs. I agree with using the Bible as the only doctrine or creed we must use for the church. Its good to speak where the bible speaks, and be slilent where the bible is silent.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:17-20 that he changed into no longer right here to start up a sparkling faith; yet to fix the Jewish one. In Acts the "Christians met interior the Synagogues interior the evenings". in the adventure that they lived close to at least one. The Catholic church changed into the first to split from the church/faith that Jesus got here and taught us, in 305/6 A.D.. With the discovery of the printing press, human beings study that the Catholic church and positioned out it changed into no longer training most of the Bible. no longer even the 2d Commandment. (split interior the 10th Commandment into 2.) The Catholic church even has some the the fake sunlight-god's ideals blanketed in its ideals. (On 4th century Catholic church homes are the daylight carved interior the walls...)

Funny you choose to say Chalice...That's the symbol of my religious belief system and we're far from being Disciples of Christ or having "No creed but Christ". Would advise you to check us out (we'll respect your belief in Christ as long as you don't try ramming that belief down our throats) at WWW.UUA.ORG! PEACE!

Christ said it was an abomination.
Romans 1:22-32

To accept / condone this behavior is going against His word.
To put one practicing same in a position of leadership is absurd.
