Hi!
It's about time we challenged this false goodness....
There is "goodness" and there is "righteousness":
One can be a good person with good humanitarian works without to be RIGHTEOUS! That is why 1 Cor 13:3, one can do good things without to have the love of God...remember God is love. Good humanitarian works without being filled with Christ's LOVE is not impressive to God.
Look at the difference between a good man and rigteous man in Rom
Rom 5:7 "For scarcely for a RIGHTEOUS MAN will one die: yet peradventure for a GOOD MAN some would even dare to die."
A "good man" is loved by the world but a "righteous" man is hated by the world. Jesus said "they will hate you as they have hated me".
The bible says "even our own goodness(own righteousness) is as filthy rags in Isaiah 64:6.
The ONLY WAY WE CAN BE CLEANSED FROM OUR SINS IS THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST! People should decide: whether they accept the rightousness of God or burn in hell forever...God is no respecter of persons, He does not need anyone of us...If we will not accept the sacrifice of the Blood of Jesus Christ, we would rather burn in hell.
God bless you for the question!
Hug!

If you don't believe in God or don't make Him you Savior you are right you won't go to heaven.
You can live a good life, do no sins do good deeds what ever the case might be but if you don't except God as you personal Savior you will not have eternal life you will go to hell unfortunately

Because they don't believe the same thing that you do. How many Christians accept their savior but are hypocrites Monday - Saturday? Is that a better attitude to have? I think it would better serve your religious affiliation if you made sure that your own were living the life that they attempt to force on others while they are screaming vile, hate-filled thoughts to people that don't agree with them. Get that under control and maybe more people would actually listen to this alleged message of love.

I find it difficult to just blindly accept Jesus as my savior and to believe. I don't believe I'm any more righteous than anyone else. But I don't really understand why so many good people would not be allowed in to Heaven just coz they didn't believe. Also there are Christians out there who believe but do bad things.

It's just guilt dear. If you know you are doing wrong behind someone's back you try to make up for it by doing good things. This does not make you His child but a neighbor. So when the doors open to God's house at the end of the day, who gets to sleep in the house? The children or the neighbor?

By not understanding who God is and who Jesus is and who the Holy Spirit is, you cannot have a clear exact picture of what is "good", and what is "bad".
It is about seeing reality and the only way that can happen is if you are operating in the soul realm, (mind, intellegence, character, and will), with the mind of Christ as part of your being.
Who you are is a spirit, and that spirit is a reflection of God. You must illuminate that spirit by God's power. Once you have done that you will start to learn, from God, who you really are and who God really is. You then will also start to have a clear understanding of good and evil. If you are not operating in Christ, then you ae only operating in your own preception of TRUTH, and that can be a little distorted or a lot distorted. Without the barometer,(The Holy Spirit), it is only guessing..........

Frankly, I think they will go to hell, and a lot of "good" people are in for a nasty surprise. Jesus went to the cross for nothing if people can reject Him and expect eternal life because of good works. Hell wasn't made for people, but for the fallen angels, but when they reject God's Son they choose to go there, even if by default.

Most people feel a lot more comfortable with a set list of do's and don'ts than with a personal relationship with Christ. It seems like it would be easier from a strictly logical, human standpoint.
