YES, it looks like it could be near or starting. Bible prophecies have come true over and over. Not written after the fact and not "wrong". Non believers lie because their eyes have been blinded.

fulfilled then--- those were hard times when the Hebrew were oppressed by the Romans and they(Israel) were looking for their Messiah to come (they reasoned he'd be a great military leader and crush the Romans). The Hebrew had a distorted view of God --- they saw God as a punisher of law breakers,strict and vengeful... they lacked a personal relationship. They still hoped and longed for their version of Messiah to come and crush their enemies

Biblical prophecy is, without exception, either written after the fact or a vague guess at the future (or a guess that turned out wrong).

That's how most predictions about the future work.

This would first be for the time of Nebuchadnezzar, then also the time when Rome destroyed the temple but having its ultimate fulfillment when Christ returns for peace for His people but judgment for His enemies.
