Yes, there is no requirement that a person be married. As a matter of fact, Priests are not allowed to marry, but still can confess!

In the Catholic Religion, you have to go through a short "class" and then you become a full Catholic. Now if your already a Catholic, and you need to confess, it doesn't matter if your 10 or 100, you can confess to a priest who works through the Lord. I guess if you didn't want to go Catholic, you can confess to the Lord yourself, but to be forgiven through the church, you need to confess to a priest. I hope this is informative and also, I hope it is correct. lol

Finally a serious question! From an 11-12yo yet. She seems to have no clue, yet more of a clue than most of the Christian "grown-ups" on here. Kudos chichi

You can confess your sins straight to Jesus. The catholics are practicing their own doctrine that is not from the word of God.
After Jesus died on the cross, you no longer are in need of a meadator. Jesus is the only way to confess your sins.

Marriage is not a requirement for confession. If the person is catholic and is divorced without approval of the church, then certain church sacraments are not permitted, like confession

my question is why go to a priest to confess? When all you have to do is ask God forgiveness in Jesus name? Why not go the direct route where Jesus has become the intercessor for us? And who forgives the priest's sins?
