A good being always eliminates evil as far as it can.

An omnipotent being can eliminate evil completely.
A good omnipotent thing will eliminate evil completely.
The existence of a good omnipotent being is inconsistent with the existence of evil.

Therefore, the existence of God is inconsistent with the existence of evil.
Premises #1 and #2 express commonly cited attributes of God as worshipped in traditional monotheistic religions, so they seem pretty secure. If they are challenged, it would only be in order to construct a radically different concept of God wwhich would have to be addressed separately.

I read a attricle on another site stating that harry potter was announcing the arival of the antichirst. If he even exsits to begin with. why? is it that if someone other then a person from the bible does a magical thing it's automatically considered witchcraft. But if a biblical person does the same thing it's " AMEN" it's a miracle? I know some people reading this will not agree with my view but i don't really care. Because you see one of my ancestors was burned at the stake during the salem witch hunt.

No matter what the question is someone usually has a lame response like "you're God's child and you're beautiful." Just tell the truth when you answer questions, if people wanted to be told that kind of nonsensical garbage they could read the bible. People come to Yahoo Answers to get ANSWERS not theory. When all the bible thumpers die, come back, and then tell me that God really does care what we do and do not do. He gave us free will and the choice to tell someone a B.S. answer or the facts. The B.S. on Yahoo Answers is getting so deep we're all going to need snorkles in a few days.

Snowflake babies are children produced by leftover embryos from fertilitiy clinics. They are frozen and then adopted by other parents.

This question ponders this existence of a "soul" as well as the time of the souls entrance if it does exist.

If the soul enters the human at the moment of birth, then abortions are not murder.

If the soul enters the human at conception, then God has a "soul waiting room" for snowflake babies, as well as monozygotic twins!

That God, he sure thinks of everything. But why aren't soul waiting rooms in the bible?

The Catholic Church says that Christ promised his Holy Spirit to guide the Church into ALL TRUTH. That is, the teaching magisterium (The bishops, in union with the Pope). All the writings of the early Church Fathers echo this. There was never any dissent.

Now, 1600 years later, along come the protestants, who want to make up their own religions. They claim that what Christ MEANT was that he was sending his Spirit to guide ALL BELIEVERS into all truth. And yet, we have thousands of different factions all claiming that their interpretation of the Bible is the correct one and new factions starting up daily when someone doesn't like a particular doctrine and wants to start his own church.

Q: Can all this confusion possibly be authored by the Holy Spirit?

when, at the same time, religious tradition makes this god out to be a moral monster? How can a god that commands mass slaughter and rape also be the source for morality in the universe?

Is Intelligent Design a religious ideology, or scientifically provable?

First define what a science DOES, then see if creationism follows those rules.

Science, observes facts, forms theories, and performs experiments to test the facts and theories. If they do not work, then the theory is changed or discarded.

How is Intelligent Design like that?

It has created a theory and now searches for facts to prove this theory. If other facts are discovered that contradict it's theories, it responds by QUESTIONING the facts!!!!

not science to me....

I am a Christian but I witness MANY hypocrites in Christianity. Ones who say don't do this sin, but than sin themselves and then use Christianity as a way to make the appear as a better person. Why is that?

Here's the trick, though. I'm not looking for songs that directly mention any god. I want to know what music makes you FEEL spiritual, no matter what religion you are. Why, do you think, does this music affect you so?

John Lennon's Imagine is very spiritual to me. I just love the message of living for the moment, loving everyone, without borders or factions to devide us.

Across the Universe, also by John and the Beatles, is similar. "Nothing's going to change my world..." it's such a content song.

Wet Sand by the Red Hot Chili Peppers has something spiritual about it, but I'm not sure what it is. Something about it just gets me, though. "You don't form in the wet sand, you don't form at all. You don't form in the wet sand. I do." The ending gives me goosebumps.

Of course, the entire Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd. That album takes your mind places. :D

Your turn!

Jesus notably plays two parts(sons) in "verily verily" John: Son of man and Son of God. Hence we find two resurrections in John 5: 29
(i) resurrection of life, for doing good(law)
(ii) resurrection of damnation, for doing evil(law)

But two resurrections are only plausible in plural and divided law law "heavens" on "high", and we are told "mind not HIGH things"; Whereas only one resurrection is plausible in "heaven" which is "HIGHER than the heavens". For in the higher singular "heaven", at "the throne of grace"(only), with "that God" (of this/that Gods)there is only "mercy" obtain-able, and for all, since "there is no respect of persons with God"("the only true God" of false/true Gods, "the God of all grace"). So we all are one should look higher, to the Higher Power: His Grace, rather than have endless left/right division on high in plural and divided heavens where it's law law no matter whether left or right of such law/law.

Isn't resurrection to eternal life above law law?

and I find them all equaly worthless. Why does our President go around ranting like he's president of the 700club? "Oh hark and Fie on the "evil doers" we shall bring freedom and liberty to their victims, god is on our side!" How can anyone listen to that without getting an upset stomach? People gobble that stuff up like it's t-bone steak. Is it really just easier to believe than to think?

— but that would make us better than God on certain levels. Perhaps these virtues really aren’t so great after all, and thus we aren’t better than God — but that would undermine the above theodicy which argues that these virtues are so wonderful they make all the evil worthwhile. Or, perhaps, God does have these virtues because God isn’t perfect either — but an imperfect God wouldn’t be as worthy of worship as believers claim.

However we look at it, it appears unreasonable to conclude that the God of traditional, philosophical theism can exist. If God is perfect, God cannot be virtuous; if God is virtuous, God cannot be perfect. One or the other attribute must give way and if theists insist on ascribing both to God, then God is logically impossible.
