Just so you know, it is only a handful of extremely vocal extremist Christians that are bothering to say stuff like this. MOST Christians have no trouble with Harry Potter. In fact, some Christians have the total opposite response, that Harry Potter clearly reflects the Christian faith of its author. The people who condemn the books really don't think much for themselves, they just follow what a few misguided leaders have told them to follow. Like that lady in Georgia, who is fighting Harry Potter tooth and naill in the courts, but by her own admission, she had never read the books because they are "too long". I mean seriously. Read the link below to see what more EDUCATED Christians have to say on the issue.

Well, first of all the people killed during the Salem witch trials didn't even practice magic(k). They were law abiding Christians who were accused of witchcraft. Many witches were probably killed during the witch hunts, but not in Salem specifically.
As to the Harry Potter thing.....it's a book. Any other belief is ridiculous.

Let's talk about this for a minute. I watched some of the Harry Potter movies, and they are imaginiative. But there are some very dark things about them. Satan likes to get his foot in the door with people. He doesn't come in all at once, he overtakes by taking an inch here, an inch there....
Things that make witchcraft look like fun can lead down paths that aren't good! I know it may seem harmless, just a movie...but that's how satan starts out. He smiles, says, oh no big deal here, c'mon try it...and then you keep going down, down down, going to darker places until he's really got you!
Please consider this as a possibility.

It is very sad that the Christian church has for so much of this planet's history taken it upon itself to exact (what it believed to be) God's judgement on people. Misunderstanding of communication has been at the heart of so many wars, it is disgusting... my personal apologies for that horrid act of violence against your ancestor.
That having been said... Harry Potter announces nothing more about the arrival of the antichrist than Bewitched with Will Farrell (and they were about as equally as funny).
When looking for the arrival of the antichrist, we need only read the newspaper and compare todays events to those predicted in Daniel and Revelation (and a few other sources, but those two will suffice).
As Christians, some of us are very quick to pass judgement on things we consider different or unusual... we need to remember that the Bible tell us: Judge not, lest ye be judged. Does this mean we should stop sharing the gospel??? not at all... it DOES mean that we should stop trying to interfere with the day to day lives of the people we encounter... tell them what the Bible says and then invite them to learn more... when we bash people with the Bible... they will react just like they would if you hit them with anything else... either fight or run away.... neither option will help us reach our goal.

Interesting facts about Witchcraft: Ergot poisoning, which causes hallucinations, has been found to be associated with rye grain in wet weather conditions. Maps and records of weather patterns show witch trials coincided with areas where rye was grown and occurred at times when the weather patterns were wet. Accounts of the Salem witch trials describe classic ergot symptoms, the trials took place during wet weather conditions and the effected people were exposed to rye grain from a low wet area. The remains of the “Bog man”, suspected of having been ritually murdered as a witch, tested positive for ergot. He was probably was hallucinating prior to scaring the locals into killing him.

Neat trick, considering that none of the witches at Salem were burned at the stake... they were either hanged or pressed to death.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but pagans and Wiccans have enough problems being taken seriously without shooting ourselves in the foot with overexaggerated claims that can be proven wrong through historical documentation.
