Reply to qtrn2005:
Actually no! I'm so not going to a mythical Christian place of torment, that's another good thing about being an atheist.

You're very funny! Yesh, ua!

To deny the reality of Jesus is to deny history. There have survived sufficient historical records to support that one Jesus of Nazareth was, in fact, a real person, who was executed by the Roman government.

You can deny the deity of Jesus, if you'd like, but I don't think an intelligent person would claim that Jesus is a purely fictional character any more than was Abraham Lincoln.

I know that Jesus is not a fictional character because there are primary historical sources that say otherwise. He is referenced by his contemporary Pharisees in the Talmudic book of 'Sanhedrin' as well as an anti-Christian tract 'Toldot Yeshu.'

I am sorry, but, facts must once again get in the way of prejudice and ignorance.

"Now the Spirit says clearly that in the last times some people will abandon the faith by following deceitful spirits, the teachings of demons, and the hypocrisy of liars, whose consciences have been burned by a hot iron." (I Timothy 4:1-2)

'nuff said.

UPDATE for EarthAngel: Not at all. John the Beloved asks us this: "Who is a liar but the person who denies that Jesus is the Christ?" (I John 2:22a) Therefore, the "following the hypocrisy of liars and a conscience burned by a hot iron" seems more appropriate.

Let's take this concept one step further. Who's to say that any historical figure actually existed? Perhaps Caesar's just a salad. Napoleon's just a type of ice cream (oh, damn that's Neapolitan--I always get those confused). Seriously, when you stop to consider it we have no real reason to be certain of any of the concepts or history upon which our society is based. What's the difference between history and a myth?

Matthew 12:36-37 . Those that deny that Jesus came in the flesh is the antichrist . Jesus will say to them in that day "I never knew you ; depart from me , you who practice lawlessness"

I think God is fictional ... Jesus, maybe. But he's not God or the Son of God regardless of his fictional status.

I wouldn't have bothered to answer, but your "Oh no I'm not" ... "Oh Yeshua!" is friggin hillarious.

What you believe and the actuality of what's going to happen to you may not necessarily line up the way you think. Just because you "believe" something doesn't validate it's authenticity.
