What I make of a god such as you describe is that it's a fake deity created by men. This Yahweh/Jehovah/Allah character once was part of a hierarchy of gods, but he was honored in particular because he was in charge of storms and rain - vital to the survival of a desert people. Later Yahweh replaced Ra the Egyptian sun god, thanks to the Atenist priest Moses, at which time his image was morphed into a brutal war god. It was then he was elevated to solitary "God" status by the Jews so that they could organize an army and take land, property and slaves for themselves, and claim a divine right to commit atrocities in the name of their 'God'.

God never authorizes rape. Your term "mass slaughter" is bias to say the least.
God knows all things and is perfectly moral. You, on the other hand, are not all-knowing. So how can you judge what God has done right or wrong?
Instead, put your full trust in Jesus Christ for He is perfect and has saved you from your sins (like condemning God) and now you need to read the Bible and know Him!

I'm not sure I follow your train of thought. You're making the assumption that there is one religious tradition when, in fact, there are many. You're making the assumption that He commands slaughter and rape, when you could possibly be taking the Old Testament out of context.
Our God is all-forgiving, all-loving, provided you are repentant of your sins and open to His love. Our God is also a jealous God. He states very clearly what His rules are.

Lets take this one at a time :). Religious tradition, who determines it, the holy books like bible, quran etc ? or their followers? If the followers determine the tradition, how do you know they are not adding thier bias/feelings/thoughts to it? Get this straight, however powerful/good a person is, if he/she is doing something wrong in Gods name. it is he/she that is wrong, dont put the blame on God.
Take sometime to think about this and you will understand. God and religion in its purest form can never be in anyway related to any thought/words or actions that can cause pain/discomfort or worse to anybody. Once you understand this you will start to differentiate between God's will and mans actions:).. A world of a difference my friend.
