Why do people say this? Are they just mocking atheists for saying there is no god or is there actual meaning behind this statement?

I asked and none of you answered. I really would like to know. Do you atheists and agnostics have a "reason" for living or is your life all about pleasure and self? That's not meant as an insult. I really do not see how one lives their life without what I consider a meaning behind it. Do you have one?

well as a believer in the lord we have been saved and delivered from the power of darkness the devil and been redeemed to the power of God! this is worth celebrating more than any other event on a daily basis, so why do so many churches have such boring, dry sermons and even more agonizing worship services? I read in the Revelation about heaven how it is a party in Father God's "House" he throws the original house party. with people praising and worshipping God with actions like singing and casting crowns psalms also refers to wild, jubilant celebrations like dancing, leaping and spinning and shouting! with the exceptions of the spirit filled pentecostal charismatic crowd (even though a lot have calmed down) why so many who claim to be redeemed so quiet about it and yet scream and run at a sport event or ladies at a new bargain sale and not about the fact they were on there way to hell and now heaven whats up? just religious or real?

Exposing one’s children to a heavy dose of the supernatural, even if portrayed through the activities of appealing characters, is not acceptable. The siren call of the occult in children’s movies and cartoons can be appealing. Poltergeists, ghosts, flying broomsticks, werewolves, vampires, witches, giants, bats, goblins, haunted hallways may be captivating but they can instill a spirit of fear. They can certainly be “dark and heavy” and exposure to the occult can be addictive. This writer is a case in point having been involved in séances, palmistry, astrology and eastern meditation prior to accepting Jesus Christ. Interest in the occult started with late night “Chiller” movies and supernatural comic books.
Parents have a responsibility to screen what their children watch. Studies have shown that children and adults who watch regular violence on the screen become desensitized to it. The same applies with intensive exposure to the occult. Jesus said, “Temptations to sin are sure to come; but woe to him by whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin” (Luke 17:1-2).

How long is this trend going to continue?

Let's take a tour:

200 years ago, we hated Witches.
100 years ago, we hated the Irish.
80 years ago, we hated Jews.
70 years ago, we hated Italians.
60 years ago, we hated Germans.
50 years ago, we hated Communists.
40 years ago, we hated Blacks.
30 years ago, we hated Asians.
20 years ago, we hated Hispanics.
Today, we hate Muslims.

Will this be another ignorant, childish, ten-year trend, or will this lead the paranoid Neo-Conservatives in Washington to Holy War that could've been avoided a decade ago?

How long will we hate Muslims?

This subject usualy turns into a heated argument but what do you say to the following? There are gay chruches that pick out 'clobber passages' and interprets that the true meaning is not to condemn homosexuals. Most religions cherry pick what they want from the bible. Some say contraceptives are ok, and eating pork and shellfish are ok, these are spelled out more literal in the bible than homosexuality. If god makes someone gay then isnt it going against his will to force yourself to be straight? Lets say people arent born gay but it is from issues that they have had when they were a child. If a person is just seeking love from a man should he really live with that void in his heart? Every gay person that I know has tried to make themselves straight at some point in their life. Before I came out I would do things like ban myself from gay porn, date women, and try to convince myself I was straight. While dating women I would still be attracted to men no matter how much I fought it.

I as a Catholic live my life for Christ and I try to live this life the best that I can in the light of eternity in Heaven. I enjoy this life and I care about it as well. That is my goal. I live for Christ not just to "have a good time" I am just wondering what other theists and atheists would consider their goals or outlook on life. "If you fail to plan you plan to fail" I had a good science teacher quote that to me once. Please give only serious answers. I am not a child and do not enjoy sifting through childish answers.

Peace to you,
Debra

I saw a number of questions posted today about how strange it is that Atheists use word like "God bless you" or "OMG".

You are aware of the fact that the word Thursday originates from the God Thor ?

(sorry, sometimes i do this when i get tired of seeing the same silly question over and over again, please excuse me)

Why are [most] Christians I have met, and seen preach on TV, so afraid of the concept of death, and preach life, life life? Life is very short, and you only have 20 good years, at best.

This question isn't for Atheists or Polytheists, only Jews, Christians, and Muslims who might have some insight, as non-Monotheists won't understand the concept of our religions.

Back to Topic:

Christians [mainstream] tend to fear this idea of death, cherishing life far too much and not embracing the afterlife that has been set out. Life is just a test, the afterlife is the real world.

Muslims, as you've probably seen from "mainsream" TV and culture, have very little taste for life, so many of us are so driven, and most times misled, that we jump at the opportunity of a higher calling.

Quality of life could be a factor, as Eastern Europe, mostly Christian, has the highest suicide and depression rates, but I think the answer is much deeper, what do you think?

Please, no Non-Sense!
