Why are [most] Christians I have met, and seen preach on TV, so afraid of the concept of death, and preach life, life life? Life is very short, and you only have 20 good years, at best.

This question isn't for Atheists or Polytheists, only Jews, Christians, and Muslims who might have some insight, as non-Monotheists won't understand the concept of our religions.

Back to Topic:

Christians [mainstream] tend to fear this idea of death, cherishing life far too much and not embracing the afterlife that has been set out. Life is just a test, the afterlife is the real world.

Muslims, as you've probably seen from "mainsream" TV and culture, have very little taste for life, so many of us are so driven, and most times misled, that we jump at the opportunity of a higher calling.

Quality of life could be a factor, as Eastern Europe, mostly Christian, has the highest suicide and depression rates, but I think the answer is much deeper, what do you think?

Please, no Non-Sense!

In a world filled with oppression and lack of morality,Some Christians tend to wonder where is GOD and Why hasn't he showed up? As you say some will get depressed or commit suicide, I will not judge them on that personally but having faith and patience for great things to come is the great within itself. My hope is in Jesus. I pray that all that believe will continue to press toward the mark which is Christ Jesus.

Shalom

Not everyone fears death - no matter what some people say. I know that when I die, I will rest peacefully, and the next thing I will see is Jesus coming in the clouds of glory. Then I, and the rest of the "saved" will meet Him in the air and we will go to Heaven and spend eternity with the God who is desperately in love with us. I want to live my life the best I can until I do die. But when the time comes, I will not be afraid.

I think that the reason that so many people do fear death is because they don't understand death. But the Bible clearly states that death is a sleep. It is the final healing. Our lifetimes here are so short in the light of eternity. This life is a race to obtain the goal of Jesus and eternal life. I hope that I may end this life able to say that I have run my race well. It sure didn't start out well. But I have been racing to catch up! (lol).

Christians do not fear death. We are made of flesh and some of us may fear the unknown circumstances of our death but not death itself. We know that this is a temporary position here on earth. Actually, most Christians are preparing for the day when we spend eternity with the Almighty. We want to hear "well done". We know that where we go there is no worry, pain, or suffering but eternal life.

I think all people have a fear of death.
many of the monotheistic religions, especially Judeo-Christian ones have no guaruntee that the worshiper will go to heaven, instead they must follow the commands of God. Most of these commands are basically ways to live a good life. so to achieve the pleasant afterlife they must live a good life, as the priests are preaching.

You are not on the right track with that understanding.... 1: Those of The Christian Faith do not hate... 2: We do not hate or fear death since we will never know death.... 3 we do think you should make the most of the time you have in this mortal world. "life" as you call it. But life goes on afer this mortal sojurn.

In a religion class I was FORCED to take for college, I learned that Christians see death as an unatural force that is not suposed to exist, it only does becuase of the Adam and Eve story. I believe G-d wants us to choose life over death.
Also fear of the unkown scares people

there is not any longer something to concern in dying itself. however the dying of a toddler is a few thing that is affecting almost all people on some point. The mourning is for those human beings left at the back of. dropping any chum, chum or acquaintance even is a nerve-racking experience. Grief is how we (the residing) manage that loss. to no longer point out the certainty that the way a individual dies additionally performs a place in all people's reaction to it.

Life is a precious gift from God. As a Christian I believe that we mourn when it is time to mourn, but also we celebrate when someone goes to be with the Lord. That's why we call a funeral a home-going.
We all know the Bible says absent from the body is present with the Lord.

We are not afraid of death. A better question would be why are so many Muslims afraid of life?
