This subject usualy turns into a heated argument but what do you say to the following? There are gay chruches that pick out 'clobber passages' and interprets that the true meaning is not to condemn homosexuals. Most religions cherry pick what they want from the bible. Some say contraceptives are ok, and eating pork and shellfish are ok, these are spelled out more literal in the bible than homosexuality. If god makes someone gay then isnt it going against his will to force yourself to be straight? Lets say people arent born gay but it is from issues that they have had when they were a child. If a person is just seeking love from a man should he really live with that void in his heart? Every gay person that I know has tried to make themselves straight at some point in their life. Before I came out I would do things like ban myself from gay porn, date women, and try to convince myself I was straight. While dating women I would still be attracted to men no matter how much I fought it.

While dating them I would still dream about sex with men. Now that I am gay, straight sex doesnt pop into my head. When I see a woman I dont feel the need to check her out. Im much happier being gay other than the fact people think that it isnt normal.

so why dont the religious people answering my question say something other than 'its a sin'. Answer my question, dont be afraid.
As far as the passages in the bible go, it usually talks about rape or prostitution, and sodomy (unnnatural sex). Unnatural would be forcing myself to have sex with women.

also, in all of jesus's teachings he never addressed homosexuality. Also many animals are gay. Any replies to those?

Nothing amuses me more than to read the "assumptions" of straight people regarding why homosexual people are homosexual and how god is so against it.

None of it makes a bit of sense. No wonder christianity takes such hard hits by those who do not believe it.

You people have to get it together and come up with some new material if you intend to really make sure gay people remain second class citizens. This tired stuff is really wearing thin. Most people who make these claims don't even really understand what they are saying... just repeating what somebody told them about god and religion/bible.

Those of you who claim being homosexual isn't the sin, it's homosexual behavior that's the sin... give me a freaking break. What kind of imbecile are you people?

It will puzzle me till I die a very old homosexual why so many people care ... even a little... about what other people are doing in their bedrooms.

Those of you who enjoy comparing homosexual desire to that of child molesters, people who want sex with animals, drug addiction, etc., are so foolish. Children and animals can't CONSENT to sexual relations. Drug addiction is a completely different problem with humanity.

I still say... and will forever... IF YOU THINK BEING GAY IS A SIN.... DON'T BE GAY!

Leave the rest of us alone.

Dont have sex with the same sex. The bible is against homosexuality in the New Testament as well. If a man wants to have sex with a child, does that mean he should do it? Pray that God help you with these desires. God made a man and a woman to be married and be one and for sex to be in a marriage of a man and a woman. The world tells you that its no big deal. Was it like this 50 yrs ago or was it shunned as sex with a small child is now? If you follow Jesus you know it is a sin. Do you live to sin? Sow to the Spirit not your fleshly desires. If you are not a follower of Jesus or God, you are part of the world like many are. Sin is no big deal to those who walk on the wrong path. They think if it feels good it must be ok. Sin is real and has consequences. Be accountable and stop searching for excuses to live in sin and call yourself a Christian if that is what you call yourself.

I don't pretend to speak for everyone of course.

I see it as, it's not the people we have issues with. That is, we don't "hate gays". That's the argument as it always gets twisted.

It's the acts. What most consider sinful acts.

You can be "gay" all day long and love men, I don't care.

When you go sticking yourself where it was not intended to go....well, that's a little different. Not much of a problem for me still you understand, hey it's your body, do it if you want. In the privacy of your home with conscenting adults? Go for it.

So far, we don't really have any differences, do we?

Now, this is where we have major issues. The gay political and social "Movement" want to "normalize homosexuality" as a standard in our society through laws and legislation.

What most folks were once able to ignore or look the other way in a spirit of "live and let live" is now about to be forced down out throats by the government. Public schools will have to have gay oriented classes, and on and on and on. Gay marriage will be allowed and when will it stop?

This whole thing is not about gays. It's about subversives who hate our society and want it destroyed by attacking it's foundations, some of which are family and religion. I'm OK with homosexuals and count several friends and family members in your ranks. When you are out to undermine the foundations of my society....either because you want to do it damage...or simply because you want to feel more "normal", well then you become my enemy.

When God created man, he saw that he was lonely and created
woman from mans rib. Adam and eve. Despite all the people out there that are confused, God never intended for same sex relationships! And to say that God did is a lie. True born again christians are to be born of the spirit and by water. And our old ways are cast off. Anything impure, improper, or going against the Lord is a sin. You cannot continue in the old life style. Breaking the 10 commandments is a sin. Jesus taught that.
Fornication is a sin. Adultery is a sin. lust is a sin, theft is a sin.
When you decide to be A sexual, and stay that way, and say you worship God! Best look in the mirror again!
And to say you are happeir than you have ever been? I don't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know alot of homopsexuals out there do to my job, and they are the most solom people I have ever worked with or met.

Yes ,it does get turned into a heated argument, sadly. I am les,and i had struggled when i first came out and stuff. I was raised in church that taught that it was bad to be gay . The last time I was in church,I was hearing about sodom and gomorrah. I believe you should be able love who you love no matter the gender. I know what it feels like to ,to act straight. It gets tiring.
I have noticed that too, about gay churches pick out :clobber passages " and cherry picking by religions. The bible was written by people back then ,and they had their beliefs ,and pretty much picked and choosed what to put in the bible. There are books that have been left out.And no telling what they said. I surely believe God loves me no matter what,so I stand on that most.

If others can do long rants against then I can do a rant for...

If God didn't intend men to have gay sex why did he put the male "G" spot about 4inches up inside the rear orifice?

I agree with you totally, I think gays are better informed about what it means to be gay and why we are gay than celibate priests in the Vatican or evangelical heterosexual fundamentalists.

Male homosexuality is a normal human variation like IQ or height, there are untold things that create human sexuality whether we are gay or straight, as well as genetic makeup, there is the fluctuating hormonal environment whilst in the mothers womb, as well as familial and societal influences none of which we have control over or can choose, plus there are a myriad other influences impossible to unravel. Nobody today familar with the research accepts that sexuality is a choice. So that is at least one argument Christians like to use that is firmly sunk.

Sexuality is not a choice.

Some Christians will still point to the Bible and say it is a sin..but the Bible is unclear... it seems to speak of violent sex acts and male prostitution which by no means describes loving gay relationships as we know them today...of course there are still promiscuous gays as there are promiscuous straights today ...so what! Scripture excuse sunk

Then there's the it's not normal, it's unnatural argument but we know many mammals engage in same-sex activity...that sinks that argument. There is nothing more unnatural than belief in the supernatural anyway. And normal just means common...what's so great about being common?

There is the disgust with bodily functions excuse...well some of us find heterosexual sex disgusting too so what? get over it.

They will say we recruit...you mean they don't? it hasn't been my experience, I have had heterosexuality pushed at me all my life and it still is going on. Anyway sexuality has not been shown to be amenable to recruitment, our sexuality is fixed every early in life...that argument is sunk.

They will always come up with another irrational one like for instance tradition..things have always been this way we mustn't change things...they forget we didn't always fly in planes and use computers or condone divorce and remarriage..argument sunk!

What part of Secular Goverment do religious people not understand when they try to have their religious law enshrined in legislation to discriminate against and disadvantage gay people who pay their taxes equally to support the state but who do not get equal treatment by the state?

Homosexuality is a sin whether you read the Old Testament or the New. But that in no way means Christians are given the right to hate gay ppl. Homosexuality is a sin just like any other sin. Adultery may feel right to a lot of ppl but its not right. Alcoholism may feel right, drug addiction, stealing, lying, whatever. People can justify any action on the grounds that it feels right. That doesn't make it right. But what most Christians need to understand is that we can hate the sin itself but definitely NOT the sinner.

You go Steve. People can (and do) find passages in the Bible to support/condemn whatever they choose. You just be the best you that you can be and treat other people the way that you would like to be treated and you will be fine. You and I know that being gay isn't something you choose, just the way being straight isn't something they choose.

I'd also like to mention those quoting "The King James Version" of the Bible. Does the fact that you are basing your whole life on a VERSION of the Bible that KING JAMES wanted you to believe mean nothing? You need to take things with a grain of salt. King James had that VERSION translated and edited to fit his needs/beliefs/wants. Find the ORIGINAL version and see what it says.

I just answered a similar question a moment ago. Homosexuality is a sin. If you don't believe it, read Leviticus18:22-28 and Romans 1:26,27. It is spelled out there in black and white. The King James Version. It is a sin and all sin is an abomination in the eyes of God.

It would not. Homosexuality is what it really is - it don't have some thing to do with faith. I purely am gay, like i'm brunette or short or undesirable at activities. None of those issues have some thing in any respect to do with faith. you know, I genuinely have some admiration for the folk who attempt to shop on with each ingredient of the bible (i'm concentrated on Christianity the following, yet in common words because i don't know adequate about the stances of alternative religions). those people obviously believe and are actual attempting to shop my soul. that's the folk who %. and decide which regulations to shop on with that annoy me. yet then i wager i'm an all or not some thing type of female!
