I saw a number of questions posted today about how strange it is that Atheists use word like "God bless you" or "OMG".

You are aware of the fact that the word Thursday originates from the God Thor ?

(sorry, sometimes i do this when i get tired of seeing the same silly question over and over again, please excuse me)

En francais, and you get some insight into the days of the week... In English, it's not as easy to notice.

Lundi - Lun, meaning Moon (Mon - day)
Mardi - Mars, god of war
Mercredi - Mercury, god of profit, trade
Jeudi - jupiter, god of war
vendredi - venus, goddess of love/beauty
samedi - this one's better in English - Saturday - Saturn, god of agriculture
dimanche - This one is OK... means God's day. In English, though - Sunday is a day dedicated to the sun and the worship thereof.

Of course, you notice that the planets are also off-limits words by the same logic.

Yes and I do know where all the days if the week, and the months of the year come from. That is all part of History. Much of our governments ideas come from ancient societies too. Not all of it is positive.

Peace to You,

YEs we do, and we also use many other words that originate from the names or Greek/Roman gods.

Yes. Kind of like how England has a Fourth of July too... They just don't celebrate it. It comes after July 3rd and before July 5th. hahahaha. :)
