I read a lot of the answers (so far). Here's another thing - God made us in his own image, correct? Now, if a person is gay (people not reading my 1st question-no, I am not gay)...anyway, why would a person be gay if it is so wrong. I don't think God would do that - have a child be born gay -- and then condemn them for it. That would be not nice - and from the last I heard, God's pretty nice. Did Satan get into a mother's womb and turn the child gay? How'd that happen? And then, why are there so many people out there in love with a same sex partner?

When David wanted to build God a temple (big Box) GOd said no, God liked being in the tent out amoung the people.

Why today do we try to keep God in our temples instead of inviting God to mill around outside with us?

Look, this jerk called me a ****er just because I'm black? Well, I'm not a "****er". I'm well educated and smart. That word would be used for a dumb weed-smoking pimp. Who hates that word ****er? I dont believe in racism for any color-speaking of racism, who hates racism?

Seriously? Can you fill up your tub and do it, do you have to join a church or get a preacher to do it, is there a way you can do it solely? It really is between you and God anyway, I know it's a public expression thing, but I don't know anyone who cares.

If evolution can not be proved then it would lead one to believe that it is an opinion for the make up of all space and time. Christianity has been taken out of school teaching and the word God offends many people, but it is claimed to be religous not sience. What ever you believe in is your religion. With that said what would be wrong with teaching both theories in school and leave the student to belive right and wrong or both?

I bumped into a jehovah witness a few weeks ago; and as we spoke, I learned that her bible contridicts who Jesus Christ says He is. I'm not judging but I believe that any christian who may have questions or concerns about the Bible (which is God); should seek His face. We are taught as christians to trust in God and not our own understanding because our worldly thinking and understanding is not like God's. God is all Spiritual and accurately True; but we wouldn't know how True unless we're reading the Word and seeking His face for Divine Revelation, right?

I have a serious question. FIRST, I've been married to my husband for 25 years. I am not gay. But I truly believe they deserve the same rights as people who are heterosexual. Now, you put them down (people who love people of the same sex) and you voice your opinions about how bad they are, etc. I want to know what gives you the right to do so? Oh and by the way, I believe in God/Jesus. I just don't understand this. I've read the bible (granted in bits and pieces - not 100%) and it does say it is not up to US to "judge" people. I really would like to know your answers. If it is because the "bible says," then the fact that it is not up to US to judge people is in there, how do you explain the conflicting words?

The US was the only nation to vote against an Arab backed resolution to stop the disproportionate use of forces and the death of hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza. The United States was the ONLY nation. So dropping bombs on innocent people is the way our government works huh? Who's the terrorist now?

My belief is that most people on earth would say they are "a good person"...so there is a Great Judge who sees all, hears all, knows all. Being "good" does not assure anything for us. Accepting God's grace and loving Him with all our hearts is what it takes...by loving Him, we desire to do Good.

Is it possible for this seeminly innocent, yet strange, belief system to cause harm to it's members? This is not a question meant to be intolerant of another religion, they can, of course, believe whatever they want. So, basically the question is, should we care that people are falling victim to those who run the church or just let them be since it claims to be a religion and people should know what they were getting into anyway?

Just some background info for anyone who isn't familiar with the church and its shadier details:

I think it is a good idea. We can take them out for a walk in the park, buy them ice-cream, pat them on the head, and such.

But please remember not to immerse them in holy water---they might shrink.

God bless.

We are not fighting for special attention. We are fighting for equal rights. We want to have protection if we break up with a life partner. We want hospital visitation rights. We want rights to receive a loved ones will. With all of the sex in the media, how you can look at two men holding hands and make a huge deal of it. There are no 'gay ideas' in government. There are plenty of christian ideas though. Why do you think that someone saying "we would like to get a loan on a house in both our names" forcing it down your throat? Your christian, you love everyone equally no matter how they choose to live. Gay people have all kinds of straight sex and christian rules forced onto them, why make a big deal of someone fighting to be treated equally.

and to say that we are is lie. Been called f*ggot too many times.

I have this Christian friend. He's a great guy and I love spending time with him, but he forces me to pray with him (like before we eat). I don't believe as he does. I respect his beliefs and I want him to respect mine. So what should I do? Is there any way to ask him to respect me without being rude or coming across as being mean?

I just finished a book by Sam Harris entitled "The End of Faith". Great book, and I encourage anyone with an open mind to check it out. The theory he poses is this:

If we don't do away with organized religion in modern society, it will inevitably be the end of us. Organized religion appears to be on the forefront of many of the major conflicts in the world right now, and ancient esoteric views don't seem to lend themselves to paradigm shifts very readily. In short, we're never all going to "just get along" unless we abandon these outdated worldviews.

I guess another way of putting it would be, if there were no Christians and Muslims, would we be fighting a "War on Terror"? What we appear to be fighting is a war on Islam, and they in turn a war on Christianity. The Islamic texts refer to any non-Muslim as an "Enemy of God", and a basic tennet of Islam is that the word of God (Allah) is supreme and to be taken as law. Thoughts?
