If there is indeed a god, then it would surely appreciate my open mindedness and logical thinking. All of the lemmings may get into a lesser part of heaven. I and my fellow free thinkers will get into the officers club!

Well, if I didn't believe in God, I probably wouldn't believe in hell either---so, no worries. I think if there is a just God, that God wouldn't assign a person to hell just for not believing. Sure, there might be a post-death classroom in which the poor soul would gain further understanding about God, but I don't think a lifetime of fiery-flame punishment would be appropriate just for being an analytical thinker. How about if I pose a question to you? Suppose that God is pretty tolerant of all religions, and just hopes that folks manifest goodness and compassion towards one another, with no promise of hell at the end of it all? Would you be able to handle that?

If there is a god and I don't believe in god then how can I believe in hell? And, if I believed there was a hell and no god, that doesn't mean that: 1) I want to go to hell (so, no I probably wouldn't be happy there) or 2) I will go to hell.
But thank you for your condemning... just know I don't determine my self worth by what religious zealots have to say. :-)
And, as Bertrand Russell said on his deathbed when asked if there was a god, "I will simply say, god you gave us insufficient evidence."

When I was 15 or 16 my pastor wanted to meet with me to discuss my leaving the church. I explained to him that I realized the God of Christianity is an immoral God. He, of course, disagreed. But I pointed out that this God practices "conditional love," a very unhealthy way of relating to your loved one: "I love you, but only if you do as I demand. If you choose the free will I have given you and follow your conscience away from my anger and convoluted rules, I will immerse you in the most profound and unimaginable agony for such a time span that you cannot even conceive." If the God of the Christian religion is really God, I told my pastor, then I would go to my fate in Hell with honor. I would prefer damnation from God than the damnation of betraying my own principles.
25 years later.... no worries.

What if you're worshipping the wrong god and you end up in a different god's hell for being an infidel? Are you ready for that?

What if the god isn't your god? Are you ready to join me in someone else's hell?

Uhm... this question makes a few assumptions:
1) The god in question is a vengeful, conceitful bugger.
2) That if there was a god there is a hell.
An elaborate myth structure not worth considering. When your body is dead and cold you'll get your answer I guess.

So you want me to pretend to believe in God just in case he exists?
I'm sorry, I cannot coerce belief in myself.
Also, you are assuming that whatever God exists is the Christian God who has a hell.
So the only way to be safe is to believe in ALL Gods. To be on the safe side you have to believe in Thor, Zeus, Allah, Kristna, the Aztec Corn God and countless others.
