The US was the only nation to vote against an Arab backed resolution to stop the disproportionate use of forces and the death of hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza. The United States was the ONLY nation. So dropping bombs on innocent people is the way our government works huh? Who's the terrorist now?

The US is the only country to use nuclear weapons on innocent civilians, so I guess the government is consistent.

It won't vote to stop bombing Palestine because it is influenced by Israel. Why do you think Iraq was invaded? Why will Iran be invaded? Then it will be Syria.

Dear Curious, I don't know why either, but either way they vote there are consequences, and, I suspect, the same is constantly in the mind of US military commanders when they have to decide whether to or not to attack someone. For example, there was a big stink about 10 years ago when the Israelis put a bomb inside the cellphone of someone who regularly sent suicide bombers into Israel. It blew up when the guy was talking on the phone killing him, and there were no more suicide bombings in Israel for the next few months. Some people called this guy a terrorist, and some called him a martyr.
Just remember there is evil in this world, and sometimes it takes a lesser evil to remove the greater evil. For example, was invading Germany by the Allies in WW2 right or wrong? You have to believe it was right.

Oh, the Arabs wanted Israel to stop bombing Arabs?

Holy Baloney! When did the Arabs call for the bombing of innocent Israelis to stop? It's OK to bomb innocent civilians in Israel in their malls and restaurants? Why? You don't like Jews? You're French? The Arabs are behaving like psychopathic criminals, but the Israelis can't defend themselves?

Why did the US vote against the resolution? Must be because America recognizes the right of a sovereign nation to defend itself from terrorists!!!!!

The rest of the world is so afraid of looking like they are against all Muslims that they will let terrorist Muslim organizations get away with murder. The UN resolution was nothing more than political correctness.

Isreal has taken a lot of abuse. It's citizens are being constantly targeted and murdered by muslim terrorists. They're not going to take it any more and, since they are our most commited partner in the war on terror, we have to back them up now.

There was more good than harm in signing this resolution. People lost and are continuing to lose their lives just cause of this Veto. America has endorsed Israeli terror once again. The should change their war slogan to "war on terrorizing Americans and Israelis" while we have the right to terrorize you because you people are inferior to us. It has served no interest to the ME! It's adding more fuel to the fire by giving Israel a green light to doing whatever they want in the M.E. Shame on the U.S. This U.S. foreign policy is not representing the whole of America nor is it the image we should be presenting in a place where we are trying to bring democracy, freedom, and peace. This current administration has got to go...

Explaining his negative vote, US Ambassador John Bolton described the text as "unbalanced" and was "not only untimely but also outmoded" because of the attacks against Israel by Lebanese Hezbollah militants and UN chief Kofi Annan's decision to send a crisis team to the region.

He said adoption of the resolution would have exacerbated tensions in the region and would have undermined "our vision of two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security."

Wow, what an unbiased question you asked.

Palestinians in Gaza don't exactly describe a group usually known as "innocent"... sorry.

America supports Israel. Israel has held back for a long time while suffering from suicide bombers, they finally got fed up and fought back. They have the right to do so.God bless the USA and Israel.
