Why do people spend more time worrrying about what won't last and so little time preparing for eternity?

AND THE REASON IS BECAUSE THIS WORLD IS DECEIVED BY THE god OF THIS WORLD AT THE PRESENT TIME UNTIL JESUS RETURNS TO THIS EARTH TO REIGN.

Most people on Earth have not yet evolved out of the caveman mentality that would be required to see that far ahead. You are one of the few who have crossed over to a more sofisticated Human Being. Good for You. The Earth needs more like You. This is a period in time when the really dumb people will be killing each other off. Eventualy the smart and meek will inherit the Earth. But that may take 100s of years. It depends on what Our Creator has planned. This is all happening for a reason that We are uncapable of understanding.

Why should they?

I know you're opinion is probably that of Christianity, but not even Christianity agrees what the afterlife consists of, or how to achieve it. Add to that the fact that all afterlife opinions are based on heresay. Whether or not the bible is accurate is controversial enough, but it WAS put to paper by man...and therefore is the word thereof.

So, basically you're asking why people don't prepare for an afterlife you read about, in one of many books that discuss different afterlives, by authors you know nothing about.

Well...that's not enough to convince me, or many people that we NEED to prepare. Show me where my soul is, I'll be convinced I have one. Descrive HOW we are able to ascend or descend to an afterlife after death, and I'll consider. Tell me you read it in a book, and offer no further explanation...not good enough.

Why do people spend their ONE life in the hopes of getting another one, when there is no objective reason to believe there is any life but this one.

You are right, this life won't last, so don't spend all of it worrying about the next one. As a reverse of Pascal's wager, what if you are wrong and you wasted the only life you get?

Because they think they are going to go on forever like the other generations. For example they waste time worrying about the environment and the earth going away when we know the earth will be here till it is meant to be destroyed and no man can change that.

Maybe it's because most people deep down realise that religion is bunk and there is no afterlife - It's only the seriously delusional who *really* believe in a life after death.
