What does this accomplish? I swear I'm not being a smart a$$ but..?

So? It's a dictionary entry. That's it.

Again, not trying to be mean, just wondering what the point of this is...

God is whoever someone wants God to be. It's different for everyone on this earth.

It seems to me that most posters understand what is meant by the word god.

But even a dictionary definition won't cover all the various concepts of god that exist.

Ha Ha, it's written down, therefore it must be true. A common mistake among bible thumpers. Did you also know that the word Google just made it into M-W dictionary as a verb and a noun?

Yes, this is more or less the common usage. And in most versions of Webster you can also find particular "gods" and deities.

You'll notice even M-W has several definitions.

Consider; "God" is different than "A god"...one is supreme, the other merely powerful.
