well as a believer in the lord we have been saved and delivered from the power of darkness the devil and been redeemed to the power of God! this is worth celebrating more than any other event on a daily basis, so why do so many churches have such boring, dry sermons and even more agonizing worship services? I read in the Revelation about heaven how it is a party in Father God's "House" he throws the original house party. with people praising and worshipping God with actions like singing and casting crowns psalms also refers to wild, jubilant celebrations like dancing, leaping and spinning and shouting! with the exceptions of the spirit filled pentecostal charismatic crowd (even though a lot have calmed down) why so many who claim to be redeemed so quiet about it and yet scream and run at a sport event or ladies at a new bargain sale and not about the fact they were on there way to hell and now heaven whats up? just religious or real?

I agree, why aint more christians excited about going to heaven. I remember when I first got saved and how that nothing mattered. Plane could have fell from the shy and nothing mattered cause I knew I was going to be with my Lord. Life looked so good and all was well with my soul. BUT NOW, I have let sin creep back in, and have left my first love and thats Jesus. I aint lost just need to redeicate my life back to Him. Now life dont seem so grand, and my life problems bother me now. I think we all need to return back to our first love like David did.

Many Christians worship in different ways. Some feel like running up and down the aisles while others feel it disrespectful to do so. Never assume that a person who chooses to worship in reverence and solemnity is any less devout and joyous about coming closer to Jesus Christ. Through peaceful introspection and prayer, many people draw close to our Heavenly Father.

Un fortunatly in far to many cases where there is a lot of the whooping and holering goings on... a lot of it is just like a rock concerts...just emmotional induced hystaria...not true worship.
I am a -stuck-to-the-pew Baptist. But a like a bit of energy in the service at the appropriate place and time... unfortunatly many can not keep there self induced hystaria controlled...
For a bit more about the general topic I invite you to read my page I call Different Flavors from my website.

I can not answer for anyone other than myself but I will tell you that quite often I am brought to a position of being immobile due to the awe of what God has done in my life.
But then I don't jump up and shout at football games either.
Though I've been known to get excited over Southern Gospel Music.

I think most people have a deep respect and sacred feelings in their hearts for what Christ has done for them. I feel that shouting and dancing in church about it, demeans it. It becomes like any other celebration. How many celebrations out there take place during quiet contemplation and reverent prayer?
Matthew 6:5-6
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

It sounds like you just haven't found the right church.
You're absolutely right, many churches have become boring and dry and Jesus is not in them. It's very sad. But there are still some of us who love Him and love to praise Him. Just seek God and ask Him to lead you to the right place.
Best of luck and Many blessings.

you belong in a pentacostal church. plenty of that going on. Pick the church that suits you. I like going to mine. Its not pentacostal. Its a Baptist church. The sermons are great. And if you want to dance for the Lord like David, then do it. If you want to sing hymns in public like Paul and Silas, then do it. Jesus went to the temple and He was bold. I dont see where it says that he sang or danced in the temple to show us by example. But whatever you do, do it for God.

Well I for one am all about praising God with good music and all, but if we are not carefull you could just be there for our own party, not to worship God but to have fun and please our friends.
Don't get me wrong... I agree that church should be awsome, so exciting that we should pee our pants, but not just because its fun to be there.... but because God is there... His presence is there... other brothers and sisters in the Lord are there.
Our relationship with God is most important, we can't just be Sunday Christians, being a Christian is a relationship with God... everyday with Him.... and when Sunday comes we will be ready to praise God and be with Him.
sadly, I've been to many churches with no fire in their hearts, dry dusty long faced people that look at their watch every 5 minutes, sure they are faithful to God, they read their Bible, but they've lost thier first love in Jesus, the fire in their hearts has burt out.... but God can set it ablaze again... He will raise our empty cold souls from the dead if we ask... and then we can be with God with joy in our hearts.
I don't have an old religion, but a relationship with Jesus and apparently you have a relationship with Him as well
on the other hand now that we are saved we know that others are not... I have a dear loved one in my family who is lost ... slowly fading away... I've tried to witness to Him, and I've done all that I can do... now I pray that he may know the joy of salvation as well.... but it is his desission, his call to make... and it is all in God's hands now.
My heart goes out for all of the lost and lonely people because they don't know what we have, We have God as our Father. I wish the same for them as well... but God gave us free will, and it's thier choice.....
May God bless you and yours

in most black churches, shouts of praise are common. I believe that "a closed mouth won't get fed'. I other words if you profess with your mouth, blessings shall be yield to you. In this same glory you thank Him with all your heart and soul in belief that He will amend you needs.
as for praying in my closet, I feel that I give Him glory at any given time and moment available. He doesn't wait until a certain time to bless me. I am being blessed now for living.
