I filled the said envelope with some washers and some old foreign coins and gave it to her, she was most grateful and said that God would bless me, do I feel guilty?, no way - the problem is that I know I should feel bad but I don't!! infact it made me laugh and gave me a skip in my step, what is wrong with me?

She always sent one until two years ago, thats the last full conversation I had with her,, she was talking about her kids, im single and we dont have much in common anymore, i felt maybe i was rude so i sent a christmas gift for her baby from Lord and Taylor, she called to say Thanks but I have not recieved a christmas card ever since, she called in the summer to say she moved..
I even gave her my email, she never emailed me..
This year i sent a card,, she left a message thanking me and said to call her but she did not send me a card..
Is this rude? should i call or forget it?

We have several challenges in our office--and I'm certain this is the same in most work places. We have a mix of ages & genders--but most everyone earns the same and has the same lifestyle. Our group (about 30 people) are always very excited to have food days. The idea being that everyone brings a dish to pass, cutting down on individual lunches needed to be packed. Only 3 or 4 peole are ever willing to make a suitable dish for a meal, the rest want to bring soda liters, chips, or store bought sweets. This is lazy, and much less expensive--and unfair. The "snack" people are always the people to request frequent food days too. Should we charge people who don't contribute at all money and pool that for carryout pizza days--or require that people choose a dish off a prepared list? We've gently suggested people "amp" up their efforts--but nothings worked. What does everyone else do? I guess if I didn't bring anything, or spent .79, I wouldn't feel entitled to graze all day.

I got a thank you note, someone handed it to me, and it wasn't closed. Why don't people lick the envelope shut?

Do you feel sorry for someone who smokes a hit of crack and then his heart explodes and dies? I don't. He knew the risks of the drug, but still did it anyway. Same thing with Holloway. She was in a foreign country, Aruba. She was 18 from Alabama. What, her parents never taught her to not go off on a secluded beach alone with 3 foreigners on a resort island 1000's of miles away from home at 3 am? What she did was stupid. She got drunk, and left her girlfriends behind and then went off with 3 guys to a beach. I feel for her parents, and it sucks she died. But, when you do stupid things, bad things can happen. Like, you don't take a bath, and then put a hairdryer in the tub, you will get electrocuted and die. Didn't she learn these lessons as a kid. What good is teaching your kids lessons, if their just going to go off to some island and break all the rules you taught them?

The other day i saw a person do something i've seen hundreds of times. They casually tossed a cigarette out their car window as if it was nothing.
Why do smokers think that this is ok?
I am usually pretty understanding when it comes to smokers. I feel bad that they can smoke in designated areas, but when they do that it irks me.
Who else thinks this?
Who disagrees and why?
If your a smoker do you do this?
Can anyone defend this?

Is it considered offensive?

I usually see a latino or filipino person get them once in a while and doesn't seem to have (too much) of a problem, but I remember getting them done two years back & a lot of people, mostly black, gave me dirty looks, namely a lot in my generation (18-25) who felt they had to give me "that look". I even had one lady who was walking in front of me as I was walking into the mall just open the door for herself just to show disrespect.

At my job, most of the older (30+) didn't have a problem with it, but I had a lot of black kids who felt they had to give me "that look" (and some wannabe-black white girls who had the same issue). Is it considered offensive for a white person, or should I say non-black person (I'm latin/white) to get braids in their hair?

I wasn't trying to be black when I got it done by the way, it actually looked nice on me, especially after a few days of initially getting it done (when it dries and settles in).

My husbands grandmother died, 2nd death for his family in less than a month, we went to the funeral, and then afterwards spent a couple days with his family, as did 6 of his siblings all in their 40's or 50's, his mom had about 8-10 people crashing at her place for a week, she gave up her bed(their house is 850 sq ft or so) and everything. We stayed in a hotel with our kids because we did not want to impose. While there I accidently overheard a conversation between his mom and her sister, she said she did not know how she was going to have enough food for the rest of the month until the next pension check and ssi check came(she is too proud to get food stamps or anything) no one had brought anything but pies and sweets and had been eating there for almost a week(about 15-20 people were there every meal) so instead of buying agift and flower arrangement we bought groceries
his mom was a bit flustered but thanked us but later several people bit my head off about it was I wrong?

We don't do that with other foods [generaly] so why with spaghetti? It seems ludicrous - like using chop sticks when there is a very easy alternative - ie knives, forks and spoons

Another associate at work told me she saw writing the walls in two fitting rooms **** you, whore, and damn or something like that. So I said I would call a manager so I called a manager and then they called security and I said I think I have an idea who it is. So they called me in the office and she is like whats their names I didn't know so I said call there manager so she did and got there names and then the manager had said he caught them in there not to long ago both in one of the fitting rooms that had the words carved in the walls on the cell phone and told them to get out, so I think they wrote it right afterwards. Now they might go to jail, did I do the right thing or not??? These girls never do any work at work, they just stand around and talk..

When I am with friends, sometimes the guys talk about sports, which I am very quiet when the discussions are happening. I'm not a big sports fan, never have been really. I mean, I enjoy basketball, but I'm mostly a casual fan, as I don't know a lot about the sport. Same with other sports I like, like MMA or boxing. I enjoy watching them, would get DVDs and all, but I know very little about them. I don't join in on discussions about football, basketball, etc. Is it the male stereotype that all men have to conform to? It's also the same thing when I was in high school, people said I should go out for football because of my size, but I am not an athletic person either.

I bent over backwards to get him what he wanted last year, it really hurt my feelings on Christmas morning when we were opening presents. It's like he just went to the store and threw stuff in the cart. Is it wrong that I'm afraid it's going to happen again this year? I got him exactly what he's been asking for and he has no idea. He's going to be elated Christmas morning.... why can't he do the same for me.
I know he listens to me! I remembers everything that I say so what is his freaking deal!?

What areas or how close does it have to be to be considered an invasion of personal space? I feel really uncomfortable when someone puts their hand on my shoulder or knee and if you are so close "kissing distance" of my face when speaking to me then it makes me want to scream: "CAN I GET ME, ME BACK!" Lol :)

Yes, my boss is a nasty person. I gave him an Xmas gift and I had to ask him about it to get thanks. I feel like he was being really ungrateful. My co-workers are all catty and unpleasant. I get my feelings hurt a lot. I am a good person and I only want to be nice and get along. I am also tough I think. I am not some nice people-pleaser I am just a decent straight-up person. A gentleman if you will even though I am female (gay though). What do you do when you feel like you've been hurt and offended by some tyrant or person who thinks they are better than you???
