they all seem interested in pointing out our negatives and insulting us

Perhaps it's due to the unpopular leadership in our government. That usually makes the rest of the world view a country in a negative light. It could also be the lies we're indoctrinated with when we're children ("America is the greatest!," "We're the only country with freedom in the world!", ad nauseum) that causes many citizens to be arrogant.

It might also be the lax educational standards to which most of us are subjected. As a result, there are US citizens who display horrendous cultural and/or academic ignorance and then act proud of it! (For example: When Bush invaded Iraq, someone pointed out that the majority of US citizens don't even know where Iraq is. I thought that was ridiculous because it's so easy to point out on a map. My mother proved me wrong. She was looking in Africa trying to find Iraq. When I pointed it out to her after five minutes, she got miffed at me and then snapped, "Oh, well. Our troops know where Iraq is and that's all that matters!")

Don't get me wrong--I love the USA. It's my home. The majority of the people I love live here. It's not perfect--no country is. But that doesn't mean that it deserves to be trashed! Like the rest of the world and half of the 303,024,000 who live here, I don't like that the president started this war. I don't like that many US citizens are patronizing and arrogant or the selective, watered-down curriculum we're being force-fed in school. Not all of us are militant, arrogant and ignorant.

Unfortunately, only the militant, arrogant and ignorant US citizens make the news. Those of us who want to improve our country by electing better leaders, promoting cultural tolerance and demanding an objective education for our children are downplayed. I think that's why some people speak so disparagingly of the USA.

(Note: I don't condone that people seem to relish in pointing out our negatives and insult us. I dislike it intensely and resent being lumped into the common stereotype by people who have not lived here and don't know what it is like. But it is a reason, nonetheless.)

I noticed that too! What is up with this world?
lol...people have everything here and live the way they want, but still all around us everything we hear and see is negative and horrible.

Even on the news do you see anything good anymore?, sometimes but not all the time!!!

No one really likes our country anyways, gees it's all about the money anyways to them government people. So many things people need and can't get it because they can't afford it!!! Things such as Health Insurance! That's a major case right now in the U.S....and our politicians you name it, ETC...... That’s why were so negative, BUT YET WE HAVE ALL THIS FREEDOM AND LIVE A GREAT LIFE THAT NO OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE!!!

BELOW THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE: I KNOW IT'S OFF THE SUBJECT but I learned something during Ethics Class!!!
Do you remember when certain people did that to the Native Americans the Carlisle Indian School that was wrong, that was in PA in the U.S.A.?
This is the best link to explain it too.

That is just an example of why some people talk negative about our country because of certain things that goes on our world it's not okay you know how would we feel if people did that too us? I wouldn't like it!
Well, I think people should be who they are and be themselves no matter what the culture is.
We are a salad bowl!
We have all types of different cultures in our country.

AT LEAST WE HAVE FREEDOM!!!
Unlike Iraq all them other countries where people would kill you just if you say the presidents name lol...so we have it made we have everything expect for a few things that you see on TV such as Health Insurance and Benefits.
Yes they do love pointing our negative mistakes out and insulting us, I don't get it either, I guess there is just some grumpy people in our world that don't know how to deal with society, the people in it, and the different types of cultures and beliefs people have, people are racist, sexiest, ETC....you know that's life I guess nothing we can do about it. Life isn't always positive their is negative things that happen in life too. Life isn't fair I guess...I don't know...that's the best I can answer that question and besides different answer come from different backgrounds lol....we answer questions differently too...Because everyone is different!!!

Americans give it right back in plenty so...it doesnt help when Americans all over are doing it to...about their own country. Everybody loves to b*tch and moan but when it comes to actually doing something good to make things better in most cases its an empty room. Not always of course, but the negative always seems to stand out more than the positive. We need to stop doing this, in our lives, at work, everywhere.

Maybe it's because some usa people call themselves "america", ignoring the fact that america is far more than just the usa. There are lots of other countries in america, not just the usa.

pessimism vs optimism

just because everyone in society is whiny.

Mentalities have changed so much.

Hmmm...maybe after this administration is over and we all find out how bad a shape we're REALLY in, then we won't have so much to talk about.
I think it's better to be truthful and face your demons head on. At least you know what you're in for.

That's only if hearing the truth is "insulting" to you....... remember: treat others as you'd like to be treated, and you're only reaping what you sow!!

Chuck, you are listening to what you want to hear. Most news today is negative because most people dwell on other's misfortunes. No one in this country wants to take credit for their own actions, income, responsibilities in life, choices they have made, etc. It is always someone else's fault.

The poor make that decision to stay that way, uneducated can improve but choose not to, people in low paying jobs choose to stay there, people in unhappy relationships choose this life, and I can keep going. This is America and we as citizens have every avenue available to us to excell and improve.

You have a choice, stay positive as myself and those I "hang" with or continue to listen to the negative and complain. Stay out of the "rut" many want you to be in, this is your life, no one else's. Go out with a positive outlook and do the very best you can.
