my workplace has become very uncomfortable for me cuz my boss read some email i wrote about her that pretty much sized her up as a person and were just really awful. i'm pretty sure she told people but i'm not sure who exactly. i found out from my dad that the emails leaked and he's the boss of the company.

now, everyone looks at me weird like i did something awful. i can't believe she told everybody. now, i don't know how to act and what to do?

any advice?

email, especially at work, is never private. NEVER put anything in an email you don't want everyone to know. whether you are right or not doesn't matter. you made a mistake. apologize.

My advice is to stop worrying about what people are thinking and get on with your job. Unless somebody says something to you, there's not much you can do. Trying to read people's minds is really a waste of time. For all you know, they're thinking something completely different, or not thinking about you at all.

The real lesson of this incident, which I hope you've learned, is to never put anything in an e-mail you wouldn't want the whole world to read. Emails are really no different from letters or other documents, in the sense that once you write something down, you're giving up any control over who might see it.

How did your boss come across this email exactly?
Im sorry, but you made this situation uncomfortable for yourself. You should goto your boss and apologize. You may be embarassed, but its the best thing to do. Take responsibility for your mistakes.
You cant believe she told everyone? I cant believe you did that! How old are you? We all have bad days and few bosses are perfect, but we dont write an email about it and send it to people in the office who can show others.

Well you've learned a lesson, never put anything in writing that you don't want anyone else to see. I think the only reason you still have a job is because of your dad. You have to remember that your actions reflex on him as well (even though they shouldn't, but they do).

I think you need to apologize to your boss and tell her that you wrote that when you were upset and it was your way of blowing off steam. Let her know that you are sorry that she saw them and that you respect her and hope that you can re-earn her trust and respect. In the meantime keep your nose clean and do your job as best as you can.

It will blow over with time. If your dad is the boss of the company and you've just been caught writing nasty emails about your supervisor, people are probably looking at you, wondering if you're not getting in trouble because you're the boss's kid. That's going to go with the territory of being the boss's kid, though, so all you can do is keep your nose clean and hope it all passes.

She doesn't have to try and make you look bad - You did that yourself by writing an email saying your opinions about a co-worker. You should have known better... Only thing you can do is start looking for a new job at a new company.

Maybe you should apologize to her about her finding the emails. If they were true then only apologize for her finding them. Then all you can do is wait for things to smooth over.

Apologize to her.

I never use work email for personal use. Simple.
