I posted an online personals ad, and here's the e-mail he copy/pasted to me:

My name is James. Ohio born, Idaho raised. I'm a single man, reputedly intelligent, with unusual interests in everything irrelevant. I think overall you will find that I am a really outgoing person. I have always been able to make friends under any circumstances. Although I am not well traveled, I am very open minded. I have a sarcastic quality to my personality and I love to smile and make others laugh. Unfortunately on of my major personality defects is that I can't help but laugh when people fall down in public. I have falledn down many times and I always laugh. My favorite word is 'dubious'. I was a bit wild when I was younger and I have a story for everything. I am a black belt in Judo and most likely I can choke you out or break your arm, your choice ;). I keep in shape. I drink beer but never shots. I do not smoke and never have. I have a great job that I love. I worked really hard to get to where I am

the guys that come and install a home entertainment system. They come tommorrow and will be here for a good 3 hours as they are putting all the wires behind the walls and hooking everything up Then they give a 20 minute presentation on how eveyrthing works. I am paying good money for the install, but do I still tip the two guys?

that questins get posted and gather answers but then nobody gets any rating? i mean you look at some of the people who answered and they are well above the first level. it makes you kind of think that they don't even bother to read others answers. they just spill and haul butt! kind of sucks!

I mean, I have nothing against people who smoke, let them do what they want to do, but being in a closed car, you would think that people would have the decency to wait a few minutes. or stop over or something. I dunno, it just bothers me.

This is kind of a long story but I will try to sum it up in a nutshell: I invited select people on my step-dad's side of the family. The reason I had to be select is because most of his family is very rude, and downright mean at times, which is completely opposite of my mom's side of the family. Anyway, I invited my step aunt and her children, but I did not invite her on again off again husband for many reasons. He is the definition of a scumbag. He says rude & crude things and has NO manners what so ever. The last time I saw him, he told me to ask my mom if he could "suck her pu**y." He was always crude to my mom and makes me feel very uncomfortable. Howver, I just heard that he might be coming to the wedding. I haven't received the RSVP yet, but when I do, what should I do if she RSVP's that he is coming? I know my fiance won't allow it either because he knows even more than I can type. Please help!

Do the Chinese have some strange disease or something.

Some places you hear birds singing,
and some places you hear crickets chirping.
In China you hear people honking snot balls....on the bus, on the airplane, on the streets and anywhere else that is public.

Chinese people outside of China don't spit everywhere and feel the need to honk snot balls, so what is it about the Chinese people in China.

Do they have some weird condition or something?

I'm not trying to be insulting, but I'm really curious? Why do they like to spit everywhere.

I find myself at a company where touching seems to be commonplace. This makes me uncomfortable. I find it unnecessary and very unprofessional. I don’t mean to sound frigid or antisocial, but I was brought up to respect personal space and was taught that physical closeness/touching is an intimate thing that is reserved for family, close friends and significant others.

The thing is, I don’t comprehend by osmosis. So, if you are explaining something to me, then you needn’t put your hand on my shoulder or back. I understand you quite well via the use of my ears. Likewise, if you are speaking to me, then you needn’t stand so close to me that your nose is merely inches from mine. I have no hearing impairments. I hear quite well. What really gets me is when I take a step back; the close-talker takes a step forward. When I have said, “Please don’t touch me”, the “toucher” does it again down the line.

Why is it so difficult to respect someone’s personal space?

I work under a pediatritian's office. Once already this week I was torn to shreds by a Mom (see the question on my profile)

Right now, there is a large executive meeting going on in my office. At the same time, there are four kids in the hall sliding up and down the staircase causing a dreadful racket. I could tell the meeting was being disturbed by the noise, so I went out into the hallway and approached the kids kindly saying "Hey guys, can you try to keep it down a little out here? We have some very importnt work going on." I was very kind and when speaking to them, and they all nodded politely, and the noise stopped...for a second. Then, Mom came out from around the corner, abruptly hung up her cell phone, and tore into me. She was yelling " What gives you the right to reprimand my kids? You know, you should just talk to the parents. You have no right to reprimand MY children!!"

Was I wrong here? Or are these moms just nuts?

Whenever we go to the supermarket these workers would stare at my daughter and try to strike up a conversation with her. They also seem to follow her wherever she goes in the store. My daughter has been extremely bothered by their attention, and now she refuses to go shopping with me. She doesn't dress at all in a provocative manner and does nothing to lead those men on. Should I speak to their manager about this?

Hello,
I'm asking this question here because I want to know what people think will happen to my child in social situations, or will she face rudeness in the future.
My wife and I are picking out names for our new child. Our last name is Jones, and we want an unusual first name for the child. My brother is against the names below, and is trying to persuade me to name them a so-called "normal" name. Let us know what you think of the names and if you feel these names are obnoxious. We like:

Boy names:

Lidell
Parqwell
Jarteel
Hyleek
Rysteef

Girl names:

Shaquinda
Lybinda
Yoquisha
Jocquilla
Wakanella

I use the telephone frequently in my work. How long should you remain on "hold" before hanging up.
1. If I called the person and they put me on hold, or
2. If they called me, and put me on hold.
Thanks.

Ok...yesterday I went to my friend's house and her older sister and her older sister's boyfriend (both in their twenties) were there when we got in. I'm black, they're white and I believe the boyfriend was visiting from Connecticut or something. We live in upstate New York.
The boyfriend seemed really like...uncomfortable around me. I felt him looking at me when I wasn't looking at him...he looked really nervous and it started making ME uncomfortable. :(

Everytime I go to a restaurant or something, there's always a white person (usually a guy) staring like they're trying to keep an eye on us or something...and I'm not being paranoid because I used to think I was being paranoid, then I realized that it really wasn't in my imagination. It's REALLY annoying and I hate it.

It's happened so much that the next time someone does it, I'm just gonna wave at them and smile and to make THEM feel stupid. Is that a good solution lol?

Im from the northern US and my GF is from Southern US. I visited her family the other day. When dinner was ready I felt really awkward. Because the mom served the father and me first. And they waited and waited. I just sat there stareing at them and they were like arent you going to eat? I said yea as soon as you guys get your plate. Then they all gave me a weird look and my GF just motions eating in front of me so I started to eat with the father. Then the daughters and mother got their plates. Then after that I went to help with the dishes and the father looked at me like I was a moron and he said boy get outta the kicthen unless your a (slur for gay people). I know I was raised that my mom cooks the dinner and so we should do the dishes. Was this family just weird or is this Southern tradition that the men get their food first and leave the kitchen right after their done eating? Any other traditions that someone can warn me about?

Why is it that people will walk right up to a fat person in public and say nasty things right to their face? Do people in this day and age really think the true worth of a person is measured by numbers on a scale? What do these people get out of trying to cause pain and embarass others? Fat people just want to be productive citizens, be happy and live their lives like anyone else. It saddens me that there are those who get their kicks out of hurting innocent people.
