It's always a nice thing to do. They are helping improve the quality of your life, and it wouldn't hurt if you showed your appreciation.

I'd never heard or thought about that until my aunt was made to tip some installer guy a couple of months ago. She was livid that he had the BALLS to ask for a tip, especially since, after finding out that she couldn't record stuff without a DVR with Digital Cable, she didn't what the digital service anymore.

I would offer them coffee and a sandwich if they are there for that long but I would not offer a monetary tip. Tipping is out of control. The whole system need to be rebooted, so that people once again expect to actually have to do a good job even without their wages being subsidised by customers.

You might want to call the company and find out if the installers can accept tips. It would be bad to offer a tip when they could get reprimanded for accepting them. A lot of time employees are not able to accept tips when they provide a service for the company.

No I would not tip. You're paying for the product, installation fees and delivery fees. They are doing their job by delivering and installing the product. The presentation is all part of the install.

Since your paying for the installation and the demonstration I don't believe that I would tip. I would probably offer them a beer or soda or something, and and a snack though.

I wouldn't tip them unless they had to do something above and beyond their duties when it came to the installation -- like move your furniture.
If they do a good job and you feel like giving them a tip - offer it to them (sometimes they'll tell you flat out that they're not allowed to accept tips).

it is not required, but it is a good practice to tip when someone does a great job for you. I would $20 if they did an outstanding job, and $10 if the job was good. Nothing for rude simpletons.

I'd say that was entirely up to you. I'd think it was uncommon for people to tip for this, and if you're paying for the installation I dont see why you should have to. Make them some tea and biscuits, but that's it.

I would offer them beers during the presentation.
Otherwise, no. They get paid well enough. I only tip outside a restaurant if the service exceeds expectations.
