I was just given an unexpected $2/hr raise (there was a note in my check explaining why).

Should I just thank her verbally or would it be okay to give her a thank-you card?

I work in a small store and we're all fairly close (even with the owner/manager).

Is there anyone out there than can help me change? I need someone to be kind of like a boot-camp instructor...I know it sounds retarded, but I need to change and I need some tough love to do it. If you think you're good enough and tough enough, please let me know, and give me your Yahoo instant messenger ID so that I may contact you. (PS> this is nothing sexual)

Women wanted to be treated equal and do anything a man did. So they get the rights and then they whine about not being treated like a woman? "Open the door for me, get me flowers, pay for dinner." Why is it that they just benefited from the whole thing. They wanted to be treated fair and have the same rights as a man, but they still expect us to do all the chivalry stuff. Why can't we split dinner down the middle?

The company I work for was sold the new owner saw my car was in desperate need of repairs, he told me to give him my keys so I did and he drove off with my car. He returned at the end of the day and had done about $1,000 worth of repairs, new tires, front end alignment and new tie rod ends, even an oil change. I asked him how much it would cost me. He said $0.00. I have never experianced such an act of kindness before. What do you get someone who already has anything they want?

What clothes are the teachers allowed and not allowed to wear while teaching.

I've heard rumors that the teachers aren't allowed to wear shorts, back when I was in high school I've seen some teachers wear shorts, usually the knee length shorts.

I work in an office with 4 other women. We have no dress code...one of the women whom is over 40 wears clothes that are enitrely too young for her and not appropriate for office attire. Most of the time her stomach shows and when she bends over or sits down you can see the crack of her "Butt". She and my boss are friends...this makes it very difficult for the rest of the office assistants to discuss this matter. We are totally embarassed by her clothing and can't understand why she doesn't see that she is making a spectacle of herself! Can anyone out there give me any ideas on how or what I can do to open my bosses eyes to see that this is totally unappropriate without causing an uproar with the rest of the employees.

When I answer questions I take lots of time and effort and put care and understanding into them. I do not try to be the "First to Answer" in other words. No answer takes me less then 30 minutes on average. I do not attempt to be a smartassbuttkindofguy, but I will throw some humor into my answers. What do members with actual real questions prefer? Short and to the point answers, or long and explainatory answers, (you know, the ones with reason behind them)???
Please let me know your opinions on this.
Thanx,

I have nothing against African-Americans, but sometimes I cannot understand a word they are saying, even though they are speaking English. If their only language is English, why can't they just speak it properly? I hate asking them to repeat themselves over and over, but I have to because it all sounds like jibberish to me.

Has anyone ever been in line where the cashier treated the customer in front of you with the upmost respect, and when it came to be your turn, they treated you rudely with no courtesy? For example, I greeted the cashier and she ignored me. I always say thank you to the cashier but she just grunts "uh-huh" or says nothing at all? From fast food, to department stores, to anything dealing with retail, tell me your stories.

Ok so you're sitting down eating and enjoying your food when your man comes home from work earlier than usual. You offer him some food but expect him to get it himself when he asks you to get it. Is it rude of him to ask you to stop eating to fix his food while your food sits out and gets cold. Or should you have gotten up anyway like a good little suzy homemaker and fix his food and go back and rewarm yours?

Our nice neighbors this morning started making all sorts of noise in their backyard at 5:30am this morning. I realize that he leaves for work at about 6:15 or so. But we have no air conditioning(It has been freaking hot in SoCal) and sleep with our windows open. So, we hear everything! And it is so quiet that early that any little thing sounds loud. I don't want to be a bad neighbor. Thanks in advance for the advice :-)
