I think he was rude. He should have respected the fact that you were eating and should have your food hot.
Ask him why we treat strangers nicer than we do our own family?

Yes it is rude of him! Its ridiculous. Is he a little kid and you're his mama? Or is he a grown man and you his partner?
Have you been lying around on the sofa all day while he was at work? no? Then you definitely deserve to be enjoying your food and its good enough of you to have prepared some to share without waitin on him as if you didnt have the right to relax.
We all like to be cared for sometimes, but hes being a baby and needs to be a big boy and get his own food.

Well I almost always wait til he is home before I eat. But I always make his first. Back to your question though, I think if you offer him some, you should get it for him. If he asked if there was any left, then you could say, sure help yourself. He is a man, he figures seeing as you asked you wouldn't mind fixing him a plate. When we are eating and my hubby wants more, he will wait til I'm finished. I figure I get everyone else theirs first before I get to sit, so the least they can do is let me finish before I get them seconds. If you are at home all the time, would it be so bad to get your husbands dinner when he comes in after a hard day. Besides you said he came early, not like he always makes a habit of it, and who cares, if you love him, you should want to do it for him.

i never minded eating cold food, i will get up in the middle of meals to fill my husbands glass. he could do it himself, but he didn't as a child, and just sits there thirsty until his meal is over and done with and fills his drink after he takes his dishes to the sink.
since i love him, i don't care to fill his drink. i never really considered myself a good little suzy homemaker, but i guess that's kind of what i am. boy, i sure should clean more if I'm supposed to be a good little suzy homemaker. maybe i just love my husband enough to make him happy regardless.

That is completely up to you. I would have gotten up not because I am a good little suzy homemaker but because I like that guy and I want to do something nice for him. I know he would get his own dish but it does not upset me that much to serve his dinner and throw mine in the microwave. I would do it out of just being kind. No rules to follow. Just follow the heart.

Well, that depends. Have you been sitting at home all day while he works at his job? If so, then you should probably fix it for him. Besides, how cold will your food really get in the 30 seconds it takes to fix his plate?
On the other hand, if you worked all day, AND came home and made dinner for him, you should tell him to get it himself.

I neither like nor live by the old-fashioned gender roles. He can heat the food himself. If for some reason he can't (has a bad backache or something for example) he can bloody well wait while I finish my food and then I'll prepare his.
I think it's rude to expect you to get up immediately to prepare his food while letting your own food get cold. We don't live in the dark ages.

Good little suzy homemaker wins everytime....!!
Your man's plate always comes first...yours second..
That way you can do no wrong, and when u'r laid up and heavy with his little bundle of joy he better go all the way to Idaho to get those potatoes that you are craving..!!! If he wont u can remind him of all your cold meals u sacrificed just so he can have his food hot and fresh!!

I think that if my man is coming home from a days work, the least I could do is fix him a plate. So what's the big deal if you have to reheat your food? There wouldn't be food for you to eat if he weren't bringing home the bacon

DON'T GET THE PLATE OF FOOD!!! There is no reason why a grown man can't make his own plate of food?!?!? I have a husband and a daughter and yes I cook dinner, but I rarely make him an actual plate.

i think it was rude but maybe he was having a bad day. if your the one who usually fixes dinner then i don't think it' rude for him to expect you to make him something.
if i were in your shoes i would have made him wait until i was done eating and then fixed him something because it's not a bad idea to put yourself in front of others once in a while.
