I've been told you can't read the Bible like a normal book, from page 1-end. I can't get through the Old Testatment. I'm more interested in the New Test. Just not sure if I should start from the begining of the New Test?

From what I've seen of them, they're nothing more than some twisted Christian's sick attempt to give kids nightmares and scare them into going to church.
Does anyone actually believe that they are a good idea? Kids as young as ten watching scenes of teenage girls gushing blood after a fake abortion? Or seeing a "homosexual offender" screaming in pain and pretending to die of AIDs in a hospital bed?

Maybe something like the plot for the film Equilibrium, where a quasi-religious order of clerics enforces the law.

God's servants would monitor Its followers day and night. Those failing to conform might be sent to be executed, or to centers to reeducate them, or in extreme cases perhaps wipe their memories to make them quite literally "new" people preloaded with the state's doctrine.

Atheism, agnosticism, secular humanism, and any other free-thinking type philsophies might be banished.

Stuff that curtails liberty but which is morally desirable might become the law of the land.

What kind of things do you envision such a religionocracy might do to the nation?

"A church and Christian newspaper in Malaysia are suing the government after it decreed that the word "Allah" can only be used by Muslims."

Not sure if this is funny or sad or something completely different.

why is it you do this? why dont you guys read to understand rather than read to say you read it?

i always see these, "read the bible in a year" guides and what not.

why limit yourself, and not simply read to understand it?

HINDU GODS RAPE GAUTAMA'S WIFE

"Formerly the gods lusted for Gautama's wife and raped her, for their wits were destroyed by lust. Then they were terrified and went to the sage Durvasas [an incarnation of Siva], who said, 'I will remove all your defilements with the Satarudriya Mantra [an ancient Saiva prayer].' Then he gave them ashes which they smeared upon their bodies, and their sins were shaken off." -- Padma Purana 4:101:174-9.

My daughter had a birthday, and we bought her this cute little dress($20 dollars) there were 4 styles. One of the grandmas asked what she wanted for her birthday, and i told her she wanted the other dresses, she said okay that they were in the price range that she spents on the kids, and when could we go with her to get it. So when went to the store and the grandma said that she wasn't going to buy that because it was " to dressy" . Do you think that it was rude of her to say she would buy it and then change her mind?

Can you prove to me with evidence outside the Bible that even the U.S. Supreme Court can not deny that God does in fact exist or did at one time exist. You may want to use scientific evidence.

Remember you can not use the Bible in any way, shape, or form. Or any person who does use the Bible. (For other religions you equivalent to the Bible.)

What exactly does it mean in the Bible where it says "Faith without works is dead?"

How does someone put their faith into works? Can you give examples? Thanks and God bless :-)

It seems like gay men are always portayed as hot, cute, or sexy, and that all they care about are looks. That's why I get so insecure, because I'm always trying to be perfect and it makes me sad that might never be "pretty" enough to be a worthy gay guy.

Luke 18:18-22

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Where I probably should have put it in the first place. Does anyone remember a Christmas song called "Christmas Candles", and not the Crosby/Andrews Sisters one, but one sung by possibly Danny Kaye's wife? In like 1962 or 63? If you do, and you know where I can find it recorded (I have the sheet music), could you let me know? Thanks all!
