From what I've seen of them, they're nothing more than some twisted Christian's sick attempt to give kids nightmares and scare them into going to church.
Does anyone actually believe that they are a good idea? Kids as young as ten watching scenes of teenage girls gushing blood after a fake abortion? Or seeing a "homosexual offender" screaming in pain and pretending to die of AIDs in a hospital bed?

If you haven't heard of them, I wouldn't recommend looking them up unless you're really curious. They're pretty horrific.

I remember both King of The Hill and South Park did a spoof on this very topic........

My grandfather was a Southern Baptist Preacher. And all I ever remember hearing was the fire and brimstone riot act god would inflict on my ever sinning soul.....
yet "he" loves us......
and he condemns us to hell.......
and he wants us to follow him.........
and yet he'll kill us off by floods and disease......

That just sounds like mental abuse to me.

And if head games are his way of making people believe in him, I'm so glad I have scientific facts to back up my belief that "he" doesn't exist and never has.

They are horrible!!! What is really bad is they don't give the reason for the abortion. Was the girl raped by her own father? They simply assume that the girl wants to go out and have more fun. They also do not put into perspective the many ways to get AIDS, like blood transfusions. They simply assume all people who have AIDS are gay. It brings about hatred of those who are different. These places should be outlawed.

You surprise me. I have not heard of a Hell House. Do they really exist? Surely not!. No one in their right mind would attempt to put fear into a child about anything or anybody.
Fear begets fear and with a child it could traumatize them.
Teaching children how to fear an action or a person is child abuse.

Homosexual "offender"? Where does "do not judge" come into this scenario. Where does anything that the bible quotes as being teachings of Jesus, come into this scenario.

I am appalled if this really exists. However, we must not forget that not all Christians will agree with this. It sounds to me, that this is one of those fundamentalist groups, like the one that stood outside a funeral of a gay young man, and taunted his family. Those people and the ones taking part in this Hell House, are of course, completely out of their mind.
Scary isn't it!

I've never been to one so I can't tell you if they hurt or help children. However, I have heard they do both in media reports, but the media seems to be on the side of the ones that are helped. I think that only the ones which truly attempt to accurately portray hell as described in the bible would be truly effective in any way.

I just can't believe that anyone really thinks they are a good idea. My lordy, that is just insane. It's some sick attempt to make kids conform.

I went to one a few times....it wasn't really well done so it was kind of funny.

But no, I don't think they're effective. I was under the impression the best way to spread God's word was to be a demonstration of his Love, not plaster people's minds with "sin" and "Hell."

Did you watch "Root of All Evil," too?

I went to something very similar to a "hell house" with my church group when I was about fourteen. I think they are a sick and twisted way to exploit religion's chief tool: fear.

What's a "hell house" ???

Read up on the life and times of Jesus Christ as recorded by four of his close followers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Find out what JESUS says about being saved, then come back with another question based on facts. Ok?

actually i never saw any of that before

BUT

I will say this

IF parents are teaching thier children Gods word
they wont need a play or production to show them the
consequences of thier actions

GODS WORD
when it goes forth accomplishes that , which He sends it to do and does not return to HIM void

So i say SPEAK GODS WORD

and leave the production to hollywood and thier kind

""Come out from among the world and touch not the unclen thing and i will recieve you unto my self " ( Jesus)
