Maybe something like the plot for the film Equilibrium, where a quasi-religious order of clerics enforces the law.
God's servants would monitor Its followers day and night. Those failing to conform might be sent to be executed, or to centers to reeducate them, or in extreme cases perhaps wipe their memories to make them quite literally "new" people preloaded with the state's doctrine.
Atheism, agnosticism, secular humanism, and any other free-thinking type philsophies might be banished.
Stuff that curtails liberty but which is morally desirable might become the law of the land.
What kind of things do you envision such a religionocracy might do to the nation?

For a real-life example, look at the theocracy in Iran.

Well, let's take a look at what theocratic rule has shown us throughout history, shall we?
-The Crusades
-The Inquisition
-The Witch Trials
-Iran's current state of affairs
-US founders denouncing the English Crown's ties to the church (okay, that one was good in the long run)
-and so on...
And let's not forget the fact that certain corrupt leaders would force conversion on the citizens, punishing non-adherents with deportation, imprisonment or death.
That's why the Founders wrote the First Amendment and the Treaty of Tripoli. Thank goodness.

Ya know, if we were all following our gut instinct, intuition, (actually, that's the Holy Spirit prompting us) we would all be doing what we love and wouldn't that be a wonderful country? Where should Christians work? How are we supposed to make money? Should we all become preachers and office workers for the church?

See current Saudi Arabia, see current Iran and Egypt. Look back to the 13th century England, France, most of Europe for that matter. It would be great if you enjoyed authoritarian/militaristic rule.

Are you kidding? They are joined throughout the body right now under the current (false) Christian and disaster to the human race George W Bush. The wedding of church and state took part shortly after the inauguration of this tyrant, liar and war monger. He told the world "God told me to invade Iraq", possible committing Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost by attributing great evil to God. Christ will rule the earth oneday, but it will not be with the party of the president and the hypocrites therein.

Look back at the Massachusetts Bay Colony... before the Revolution and you can get a picture of how things would be.
That is a TERRIBLE IDEA.

Rationality wouldn't be allowed. And I'd go live on an island of my own.
PS. Guy under me has the right idea.

You'd be able to pry my gun from my cold dead hand after taking out as many of those monsters as I possibly could. Viva la freedom, viva la resistance.

It'd be a christian fundy ruled country, and they'd probably murder or burn those of us who don't believe in their fable-cult.
I hope Wicca takes over. The country would be better off.
