Where I probably should have put it in the first place. Does anyone remember a Christmas song called "Christmas Candles", and not the Crosby/Andrews Sisters one, but one sung by possibly Danny Kaye's wife? In like 1962 or 63? If you do, and you know where I can find it recorded (I have the sheet music), could you let me know? Thanks all!

Anoldmic.. I know it wasn't popular, and I ran across the sheet music, when I played it, I remembered it, and thought how appropriate it was (except for the words "fairy candles") for todays time, with all the soldiers away. I'm pretty sure that Danny Kaye was one of the writers of it.

Yes, Isadora, Lighted fairy candles, on our Christmas tree. Did you find a recording? I am also computer illiterate, and have never been able to find it except in the Library of Congress, in the Danny Kaye/Sylvia Fine collection.

There was a radio program in l937, the Cinnamon Bear Review, in which one of the characters, named Judy, sang a song called Christmas Candles. I don't know the lyrics, but could this possibly be your song?
I cannot find the lyrics to that one. What is the date on your sheet music?
One version written by Raymond Leveen, Leo Breen and Wilbur Sampson. Arranged by Albert Sack. in l944, no lyrics to that one either, or singer listed.

I have heard the song before, before my great-grandmother died (I am not a senior) but I never knew who sang it. While researching it, I have found 3 versions of the song that did not involve the Andrews sisters, but none of them have Danny Kaye. I'm still looking, and if I discover more, I'll let you know.
Christmas candles (Al Caiola)
Christmas candles (Bing Crosby/Fred Waring)
Christmas candles (Frank Sinatra/Bing Crosby)

I am computor illiterate so I'm not sure if you can burn I think is the word to a disc or what ever it is called and I think I saw albums. Hope this is the one you were looking for.

For some unknown reason, the name Bonnie Owens comes to mind. She was the wife of the late Buck Owens & she had a memorable singing voice. Then there's the ever popular Patti Page who also sang many Christmas songs in that era.

I have an immense collection of old albums, including many with the Andrews Sisters - and that tune is not among them. It must not have been terribly popular; there don't seem to be any present-day re-recordings of it either.
