So then you have to believe in a God that you are capable of tricking.
You are only acting like you believe in God just in case there is one. But then you have to hope that God is not capable of telling that you are bluffing. Now you risk spending your entire life going to church and living according to the Bible AND you still get to go to hell.
Fun, huh

Oh wow, judging by some of the answers there must be an "everytime somebody proposes Pascal's wager you take a drink" game on this forum? I'll have to come here more often. Guess I'll have to stock up on booze . . .

Well, why risk an automobile acciden by driving?
Why risk being struck by lightening by going out in a rainstorm?
Why risk marriage because it may end in divorce?
We all make choices. You can believe in fairytales if you want; believe you may go to hell if you want; believe you will get wings and go to heaven if you want.
Itsa free country.....isn't it?
But evidence proves you wrong....so I chose not to believe as you do.

Isn't it better to believe than to risk Tartarus?
Or Yomi?
Or Hades?
See, that's the problem with Pascal's Wager. To be consistent, you have to believe in EVERY religion "just in case."
Besides, one can't just decide to believe in something. They can pay lip service, but any all-knowing god would know the difference, eh?

Nope. It is much better to realize the Christian hell used to be the Greek hell. It was turned into a bad place since that was the only way to get the Greeks on-board with the Christianity thing.

To believe involves love and faith. Yes, you make a choice to believe, but if it is true, the holy Spirit comes and leads you. I fit is just not in the heart of one, they can not fake it. That is why many times it takes something devastating to bring one to God. The devastation makes them pray and then God answers and they see. Unfortunately, many simply do not have it in their hearts to make the choice without proof.
Your right though, why would you risk it by being in rebellion?

Because there is no proof of the after life existing, yet we know for sure this life does.
This is all there is right now, so live THIS moment at its best. Because if you live to have a better tomorrow and not a better day today, your better days are always gonna be a day away.

No, because you're curtailing your enjoyment of life for rewards which themselves may not exist.
Hell might exist, heaven might exist, sure, but do we have any solid evidence? No.
Therefore, I'm not going to bow down to religious doctrine and deny myself the pleasures that my senses are able to enjoy in this body simply because archaic rules say these are the requirements of entry into a hypothetical heaven.

This proposition is called Pascal's wager; it was initially proposed by mathematician Blaise Pascal several centuries ago -- and shown to be logically invalid not long afterwards. It is also scientifically invalid. Details can be found in:
