From birth, envirement, and overal self, i have always stuck out. Always rebellious and always a leader someone who does not conform. But i am lost in Religion. I was born Roman Catholic, Baptized in a St. whoever church. But i do nto believe in sins. I believe there is a place where people who have done horrible things in life have go and idk if its called hell. I believe that if a woman wants an abortion then GO RIGHT AHEAD. I believe that if two men or two women decide that they love each other enough to tie the knot then they should be able too. We as a country or even one man, our presidant should not be able to decide wether they should or not because he will obviously decide from his religious beleifs. I think sex before marrige is totaly acceptable. I do believe in god.Hes the person who i blame everything for. I have only gone to church because i wanted to sleep over a friends house and i dont go to religion like my friends. And i think there is a heaven. wat religion am i???

Me, I only see science as a reason to reject most claims made by religions, not theism. I am an empiricist. Since there is no evidence for the existence of god, I reject the notion that one exists. No science needed.Evolutionary theory can be proven completely wrong tommorow and that would not prove a god's existence for me.

The English translation of Novus Ordo Seclorum is: "New World of the Ages." That, in turn, begs the question: Why on the USA's one dollar bills?! Seek truth, my brothers and sisters.

Looking at some of the answers I received for my question on the prevalence of "lipstick" lesbian characters over butch ones, I thought I'd pose this question as well.

Do you think the reason why most portrayals of gay men in Hollywood movies and TV as effeminate characters is because it's safer and perhaps less "threatening" to straight audiences? I mean, there have been gay characters who are portrayed as masculine, but they often perpetuate the other stereotype of the handsome, GQ model type or all-American boy-next-door type.

Given that men who fall within the "bear" subculture are becoming more visible in western society, do you think this will change? While realistically not all bearish guys behave in a "butch" manner, I've known and befriended quite a few who actually do.

Anyone remember a sitcom starring actor John Goodman as a gay man that flopped miserably a few years back?

It seems that for every verse from the bible that says that those who believe will enter heaven, there's another one that says that one must follow the Word of God and not sin in order to have salvation. It seems the writers of the Bible couldn't make up their minds. Remember that the only person Jesus personally assured would go to heaven was the thief on the cross next to him, who lived a life of sin and converted in the final moments of his life.
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/faithalone.html for a list of some of these verses (and theres a few I've found that page doesn't account for, I actually have read the bible)

As usual, ad hominem attacks will be considered an admission of your own failure.

For those of you who believe in an afterlife, do you believe that animals have an afterlife or a chance at going to heaven? If not, what is their purpose here on earth? What does your authority (bible, etc.) say?

I'm curious. What is the right way according to their faith?

Literally? Figuratively? Turn a blind eye to the bad stuff and pretend it's good?

Because I've met too many people who say the bible is free for interpretation and only use the good stuff literally, but completely ignore the nasty stuff.

Tell me, what does the church say, and what do you as christians say?
