Im an ex-scientologist. Im not sure that you have that quite right. The religion part is free. More than most even. The Sunday services are non-denominational. Anyone of any religion can attend because there are no services specific to scientology. They mostly wish well for people going thru natural disasters, ask for canned goods, used clothing, and people to man disaster teams. Hell they dont even pass a plate (and they dont hint about giving 10% of your income like other churches).
If you mean the self-help courses, thats not really part of the church. In fact, its all offered outside of the church also. The Applied Scholastics program, the Narconon program, the Criminon program, and ABLE the Association for Better Living and Education. Not to mention the Free Zoners who have seperated from the church and offer all of the scientology courses.
I dont get the richest comment either. According to the anti-scientology sites, getting to the top costs about the same as a very small house. Even if you do consider it the same as the religion then you are talking about reaching "vatican" level in the christian religion. And I hear that THEY have to give up ALL of their worldly goods :)

Well, eternal salvation is very, very expensive! Just ask those poor sods back in the Middle Ages when they paid for their Catholic Indulgences. (Seriously, now...)
Scientology was not originally invented as a religion, but tried very hard to "become" one out of necessity and convenience. Read the below reference, an interview with the son of Scientology's founder, and search for the word "religion".
The "Church" of Scientology is all about money and power, so of course the richest people get the most rewards from the organization... because they gave them the most money. That's how every "business" is run, right?

Right. It is much more socially acceptable to pay even more money to have a psychiatrist do the same thing. Well not the SAME thing. I get a better impression from the people who have gone the scientology way than the psychiatry way, haven't you?

It's a real life RPG. The more gold you have, and higher levels you rank make you more powerful.
