Like Flower and Sandwich, we leave ours up at least thru' the 6th...and sometimes a little longer. Another term for that day is Little Christmas.
Sad that so many take their trees down so early, just to be rid of them. We grew up believing that Christmas is a season, and that's something I'm not willing to change.
Even tho' there's already Valentine's candy out in the stores, it's still Christmas in my heart and home!

My Christmas decorations stay up until Jan 2, then I pack them all away and clean house, closets and cupboards included, to start out fresh for the new year.
That is, depending on the weather. All my Christmas stuff gets stored in the attic of the workshop, which is about a hundred feet away from the house, and if there is snow up to you-know-where, I wait until it is gone (here, usually a day or two)

everyone leaves them up until new years day. that includes the lights outside as well. but you always have those few neighbors who leave them up until February and even longer sometimes.
note to everyone. just because you don't turn on the Christmas lights anymore doesn't mean you took them down. lol
one of our family traditions is on new years eve we take the noise makers that shoot the streamers out and fire them at the tree adds a little decoration to the Christmas tree and keeps it off the floor. just an idea.

Traditionally, a tree and its decorations are left up until January 6, better known as Twelveth Night. According to ancient beliefs, a tree was considered to be without spirits in it, and was okay to bring inside, but only on Christmas Eve. The ancient beliefs also say that those tree spirits return twelve days later to reinhabit the tree, so it is tossed out then, to prevent the spirits from inhabiting the house instead. Weird, yes, but true.
Nowadays, most folks leave it up as a festive sight until after New Years. But, to each his own.
I've left my artificial tree up as long as May...I had surgery and just wasn't up to it...LOL!

We are having our Christmas with the kids and grand kids this coming weekend so mine are still up. I usually keep the fireplace decorations up until later in January though..just looks cozy. This year I put up a small tree on a table...the other one I have is gigantic and just didn't want to deal with it. So all I have to do is remove the ornaments and slip the tree into a large plastic bag...waa laaa job done! Have a happy NEW YEAR!!

We leave our tree and trimmings up until after Epiphany, January 6th. I know some people call it 12th Night (the 12 days of Christmas), but around here January 6th is also referred to as 3 Kings Day; commemorating the 3 Wise Men visiting the Christ child, the first gentiles to declare Christ as King.

Decorations come down on the Twelth Night of Christmas; not a day before nor a day later.
Holly and Mistletoe are always burned - tradition!

Decorations will come down January 2...the day after the bowl games. After all, we have to get ready for Valentine's Day.

I wish I could follow in my mom and dads footsteps and keep everything up till January first. I usually break down before then and get everything put away along the 29th or 30th. Sad how we tend to get these days.
