I can define this myself but would be interested to read how others might define this.
I don't want rants from people telling me how wrong I am, but would welcome definitions from people of any or no faith.
So..What is your definition and why?

what exactly is speaking in tounges? i think i know the jist of what it is, but never hearing it before, i honestly dont know.
my boyfreind says that i should have heard it because he has done it at church standing right next to me (he does it if he doesnt know the words to the song or what to pray) but i was worshiping the lord and blocked out everyone around me. he said he was at this one church and they had this lady who spoke in tounges and there was an interperter. how come some people can understand what the person speaking in tounges is saying and others cant? I asked a question about praying http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlJuA416OYAPEdbd_sNko4nsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071226211828AAW6ShT and someone said if i dont know the words to pray, then to speak in toungs, but i dont know how. i dont know what it sounds like because as i said earlier i have never heard it before.

i mean voice wise. Why do they speak more high pitched?
If you spoke to an adult in the way you speak to kids it would patronising. why isn't it patronising to speak to kids like that?

We have planets protecting the earth, a moon at night, sun at day in a perfect position, stars at night, the sky, rainbows, vegtables, fruits to eat, herbs to keep us heathy, an awareness of our own existance, our mind, babies made in their mothers womb every minute. the moon to give us tides, emotions, legs, eyes, quantum physic's and more and more. You finish the rest cause I cant see how chance could make this happen.

How much time would it take for a dinosore to evolve with all of these things in place and what are the chances that everything formed with out a plan and no one to constuct this reality of everything.

Yet atheists say evolution cant form the simple things in life.

Life is many on earth yet zero everywhere else.

So here's the deal, Adam & Eve ate a fruit and therefore everyone are "born" sinful and guilty despite having done nothing wrong. It's like holding you responsible for your great great great x 1000 grandfather's act of stealing his father's cookie. So god decided that he had to get himself killed in order to forgive. It's like your sister saying, "Ok, I'll forgive you brother, but I'll have to get myself killed first!".

If humans must die cause of sin (Adam eating a fruit), then how is god allowed to twist the rules and kill himself instead? If god is allowed to twist the rules, why didn't he just forgive? To say that it is necessary for an "all-powerful" god to kill himself in order to forgive makes "0" sense. He can twist the rules as he wishes.

The murderer who committed murder is supposed to be punished in order to learn, not the juror. Imagine the juror saying, "I'll let you go for committing murder, but let me kill myself first!"

Listen to any prayers or statements offered by evangelical pastors or witnesses on TV, YouTube or GodTube. You won't get through 3 sentences without hearing at least two occurrences of "just."

This has been going on at least for the last 40 years (when I was a teenager).

How did this affectation become standardized in extemporaneous evangelical speaking, when it's relatively rare in other contexts?

A friend told me of an odd phenomenon in Europe recently. She told me that she watched a news-program that told about how in the 1970's, in Europe, a lot of people quit religion all together and became atheists. And now that they've had children and they're children are grown these Children, having been raised atheist and having never combated the ignorance of religion first hand, are now actively seeking it out. And not in the typically spoonfed Christian form either, rather, they're all converting to Islam. It's quite an interesting, and personally disturbing social phenomenon to me. Not because it's Islamic faith that these sheeple are reaching out for, but that they are reaching out for religion in general. The only silver linings I can see to all of this is that, well, hey, at least it's not Christianity that's becoming their moralistic, metaphysical, and mortal crutch and it also means that there is a fresh new crop of gullible people out there 4 me 2 manipulate, yey!!!
