Sex is a special privilege that God gave to married men and women. All sexual acts outside of marriage is sin.
The "romantic relationship" crosses the line when the couple engages in any type of sexual behavior.

Here is in part my answer to virtually the same question 5 minutes ago...
"I believe that there is a difference between being married in the eyes of God and being married in the eyes of the law. Same with divorce. Legal marriage and divorce is paperwork for legal matters such as finances, insurance purposes, and custodial rights, etc.
If you had to be married in the ritualistic sense by another human in order to not be sinning, that would make absolutely no sense. Who married Adam and Eve? I don't recall a wedding. It was "here, she is made for you". Then they conceived, which took sex, obviously."
God told people to "go forth and be fruitful", not "go forth and be fruitful after the expensive wedding, and don't forget to sign the pre-nup!"
Just another example of how religion has twisted God's message as a way of controlling people and manipulating them into following man-made laws.

yes, all sexual acts including sexual intercourse before marriage are considered grave/mortal/serious sins. One must remain "chaste". Sexual relationship is for a married man and women. Yet, one must never use the other person as a sexual object for one's own selfish pleasure (Lust) whether married or not.

Whether you partake in sexual practices or not, you are still a sinner. So treating it would be like covering up a canker sore. The virus is still in you and incurable. It's our nature to sin. So the cure comes from God. He offered it through His Son.
So treat the symptoms all you want, the disease is still there until God takes it away. And that won't happen until we are up there, if you are covered.

All sexual acts before marriage would be off limits for those who want to please God. These acts would include oral, anal, and any form of touching that might lead to these acts. They would all fall under the one word, "fornication."
Many people think as long as they abstain from the actual act that they are still pure, chaste, and virginal. But, think about it. Engaging in any of these acts would defeat the purpose of remaining "pure." Especially in God's eyes.

sex before marraige as a born again beleiver
constitutes marraige in God's eyes
but you err greatly in doing this as you will blow your testimony to the younger generation,
who will confuse this as being the norm
We are to be His peculiar Treasure
and must for the sake of the souls who will be watching your life unfold
be in Humble service,
why
To convince the gainsayers that God views Matrimony as a serious undertaking
Jesus is to Marry a spotless Bride, that is us
ah whatever you are already bent on the outcome
so
whatever you wish is your will........
