We blend traditions from my family (northern US) and my husband's family (southern US).
I'll have a pork roast simmering in a crockpot with saurkraut.
Mashed potatoes.
Black-eyed peas.
A nice big pot of greens.
Maybe some cornbread.
I still don't know how many people will stop by on New Year's Day; but I don't mind eating the leftovers for the next few days.

get the old man out of the house and just make myself a bacon sandwich after scoffing Xmas chocolates all before seeing the new year in in front of the telly . He likes the hustle and bustle of the pubs and at 70 still thinks he's gods gift to women so he sneaks a kiss or three from girls and comes home with a stupid grin on his face .It keeps the silly goat happy for another year

No. I usually spend the day putting away all the Christmas decor. I might make a batch of potato salad and have some BBQ chicken. I don't care if it is snowing and 15 degrees outside.

Of course! We're having the traditional blackeyed peas with jowl bacon, , cabbage, and cornbread. It will be another 364 days before I have to look at those nasty blackeyed peas again!

Nope, I do Thanksgiving and Christmas, and my daughter does a New Year's brunch open house all day. She serves smoked salmon, venison stew and of course blackeyed peas; with all kinds of side dishes and Mimosas. I always go there. I love her brunches, and even tho I do have to take something, I love not being the one who cooks!

I have always put the corned beef, cabbage, potatoes in the crockpot on New Year's Eve, so it is ready for us to have on New Year's Day.
