Yes it is very close. Some people, ( most ) won't believe this because they want what they have here now, more than what God has to offer in His Kingdom. Some people will not want anything to do with God's Kingdom because they have no idea of what it is, and some, just don't like what God has to offer as much as what Lucifer says he has. Lucifer is the father of the lie, so don't trust him. Trust Jesus, He is the Truth, the life, and the way. The way to God's Kingdom.
God be with you,
William, a bond-servant of Jesus

This scripture is talking about the true gospel with the true underdstanding of Yahweh and Yeshua, not the false gospel that has dominated the preaching of the last 1900+ years. There is a lot of religious sounding talk on all those venues that you mention, but very very little truth.
Also, you left out an important part:
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world ****for a witness ****unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
When you hear the two witnesses mentioned in Revelations crying out for folks to repent of their sins and being able (unlike most) to actually define what sin is, you will have some evidence that the true gospel is being preached as a witness to the world. Revelations says that the whole world hates these two final witnesses of God so badly that they kill them and send each other gifts and celebrate because they are rid of them (They think).
The Gospel is not preached to the world to save the world, it is preached to the world so when their time of judgement comes God can call this to their rememberance and they will be without excuse.

It is closer than we all realize. I want to show you something in the bible, that most people overlook. But you are going to have to read to realize what I am getting at. The book of acts the 2nd. cha.vs.1-5(out of every nation under heaven) Ro.10:9-21,(notice vs.18).Ro.1:8; Colossians 1:23. Mt.24:14; Luke 24:47(Acts 2:5) Rev.14:6; there is so much more. The gospel has already been preached. But we know there is still more to take place. Let us be ready. Have a good evening.

Romans 10:18, "But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into ALL the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world".
Colossians 1:23, "If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and WHICH WAS PREACHED TO EVERY CREATURE WHICH IS UNDER HEAVEN; whereof I Paul am made a minister".
The Apostles accomplished this and were killed for it.

It does have to be close. However, which gospel are you speaking of? The gospel that God so loved the world that He gave his only son, so that none should perish? Notice that the word is perish as in die. Too much is being preached about God's punishment of eternal torment. (which is not very biblical) God so LOVED the world. LOVE is the message of the gospel, is it really being preached? Or are the churches trying to scare people to God by spouting Hellfire and torment? The message of God's LOVE needs to be spread still!

Matt. 24:36 - many sects try to predict the coming of Christ. But Jesus says, "no one but the Father knows the day and the hour." The sects that try to predict Christ's coming ignore these words.
Matt. 24:36 - we should also note that Jesus’ statement does not mean than Jesus does not know the day of His Second Coming. Jesus does know, because He is God. With this statement, Jesus explains that He chose to know by His human knowledge only that which He wanted to know for His mission of salvation. In other words, Jesus could have chosen not to know everything by His own human knowledge, but Jesus knew everything in His human knowledge through its hypostatic union to His eternal and infinite divine knowledge.
Matt. 24:44 – Jesus warns us that the Son of Man is coming at an hour we do not expect.
Matt. 25:13 – Jesus says “watch therefore, and be prepared, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
Mark 13:35-37 – Jesus says “watch because you do not know when the Master of the House will come - watch!”
Luke 12:46 - the Master will come on a day and at an hour when He is not expected.
Acts 1:7 - Jesus says it is not for us to know the times or seasons which the Father has fixed by His own authority.
1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10; Rev. 3:3 - the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
James 5:7 - be patient until the coming of the Lord. Those who try to predict disregard this inspired teaching.
Rev. 22:20 - Jesus says He is coming soon, but He does not tell us when He is coming. Because Jesus says we do not know the day or the hour and will be surprised at His coming, it is silly, and disobedient, for people and groups to predict His coming. We, instead, need to be about the business of growing in holiness, so that we are prepared for our Lord when He comes again, no matter when that will be.

If you're basing this thought on the book of revalation remember that it is just one mans interpretation of a dream.... Probably not actual fact. (one of the few places in the Bible where you get to argue opinion vs. intent.)
Do I think the end is near? Not really. At 37 I probably won't see it in my current form. I think that as bad as things are, we, as humans have a lot further to go before we truly reach "end times". Sure, there are things happening that fit, but there always have been. You also have to take into consideration the different concepts of time and lifetime relating to then, and now.

Are you sure the gospel has been preached to almost every country? Most of the world has not heard the gospel.

I'm not sure which scripture you are referring to, but when Jesus comes, every eye will see him. Years ago, I thought that would be impossible, since the earth is round. Now that we have the technology for the entire world to view the same event spontaneously, this verse holds new meaning to me. Yes, I believe we are very close!
