Its more convincing to them. If you talk dully, they won't listen, but if you sound like there's actual substance behind what they're saying, then they believe in you more. Take a class on Child Psychology, teaches you all that stuff.

Sometimes we forget of the age level you are at. It's cute to do it to a baby, but your right, at a certain age it is annoying.
I know I didn't like it when I started coming to mind and aware of myself that the way adults talked to me was somewhat annoying.
Just realize most of the time it isn't meant as a way to get under your skin, some adults just don't grasp that the younger generation has matured than when we were kids.
Just be patient, and when you get older, break the chain by talking to kids as you wanted to be spoke to.

Because kids have mental superpowers! They can influence an adult person's subconscious making him/her speak in a high pitched or funny voice. These superpowers tend to degenerate and people gradually forget about it as they grow older because of too much distractions like TV, toys, cars, money, etc.

Most adults talk to kids like they talk to their cat or dog. They speak as if the child is brain damaged and has no education. It is patronizing, unless the child is to young to understand. It would also be weird to talk to a child as if they were 30.

Cause most kids talk the same way. Not patronising if they don't know it is.

Well imagine if people had spoken to you like they do adults when you were younger, I don't know about you but I would have thought they were kind of weird and might knot have known what they were talking about. Who knows. I guess it's because they always want kids to feel welcome and accepted.

The reason is, is because people do not want to startle kids, they want to comfort them. However, i am not saying aduts want to startle other adults, but i guess they believe kids are easily scared. Which is generally true.

It's allot more soothing and less threading to a child to here a soft voice instead of hearing something like " can you really be that stupid" in a load and threatening voice.

Children are in a different developmental stage. You need to talk to them in a different way because it's the way that adults can establish rapport. Don't you change your tone and behavior depending on the situation?

well normaly adults are more intelligent and stuff so kids are kinda shy to say things they know cause most of the time it just gets shot down. plus if you were raised to respect adults then it's kinda hard to be yourself depending on what kinda of person you are.
