I have a damaged bible that has fallen apart completely, and I need to know how to throw it away. I'm afraid to just throw it in the trash because I fear that God might punish me for doing that? Is it o.k. to throw a damaged bible in the trash as long as you don't burn it? Help me, I'm scared!! I need to feel better about throwing a bible in the garbage because it's the holy book. What should I do?

I'm writing a book, so forgive me for having a slightly odd question.

I'm interested in the stereotypical sort of car a couple like this would have: they live in a small mountain village, both have been retired for about 3 years, so they're in their late sixties. Everywhere they drive it is within 3 miles away and they use it about 4 times a week.

If you could give me a manufacturer and model (for example, Honda Civic), that would be really great.

Prove it!! I don't see any proof that He exists, but nor do I see any proof that He doesn't exist. Or is it not necessary to prove nonsensical idea? I guess it is!

Is this flirting or being too friendly with a student? My teacher tells his class a story,& at the end of the story he will turn to a girl,& ask her,"did you like that story?", & smiles at her,.Is that flirting or being too friendly?
He talks to this girl a lot, like they talk about CSI all the time,he brags to the class about how smart she is, he more nice to her, then he is to most of the class. He 29 and she 14. Don't you find this a little weird?

I've applied for the Québec Skilled Worker Visa, intend to live in Québec City, and am learning French in the interim. Everything I have access to (I'm in the US) teaches the European dialect. I spoke with many people while I was in Québec City last month and have heard every opinion from there not being much of a difference (from a friend living there that is originally from Paris!?) to some saying that they practically felt like they were learning a new language. I do not want to spin my wheels or give myself an accent that will cause problems in the future, ie getting a job or being socially accepted (and I would like to integrate fully into the culture as much as possible). Is it best that I just learn French in Canada when I get there or can I benefit from school French while I'm waiting or will it ruin me?

What does it mean to know something?

When I say I know this or I know that what does it really mean.

What does it mean when I say I know something.

What does it actually mean, not theoretically, not philosophically, not analytically or psychologically, but what is actually taking place inwardly and outwardly?

What is happening physically, mentally, emotionally... in the body as it were?

And, what is occurring in the psyche? In the brain? In the head?

What allows the being to say I know this to be true or I know this to be false.

What is happening psychologically, in the mind or brain?

If I say it is mystical or mysterious or a gift from God or something one cannot possibly understand, the conversation is over, I have already concluded, I am lost, the inquiry is over, I am blocked.

If I can honestly, with true humility, say "I really don't know," at that moment the brain becomes completely silent, it looks in order to comprehend and begins to see things as they are.

The bear and the rabbit were walking through the woods one day, when they saw an angel being attacked by a pack of wolves.

They quickly came up with a plan and acted upon it. The rabbit distracted the wolves long enough for the bear to charge in from the side, knock them silly and scare them away.

The thankful angel agreed to grant them each three wishes.

"I want to be the best-looking bear ever," the bear said.

"I want a motorcyle helmet," said the rabbit.

"I want to have more sexual energy than any bear ever had," said the bear.

"I want a motorcycle," said the rabbit.
He then put on his helmet, started up the bike and gunnned the motor.

"For my final wish, I want every other bear in the woods to be a beautiful female!" the bear shouted over the noise of the engine.

The rabbit peeled out and sped away... but just before he got out of earshot he screamed back over his shoulder...

"I WANT THE BEAR TO BE GAY!!!!!"

faithful adherents of these three religious groups have so much trouble getting along? I would think they would all believe in basically the same things. Is it as simple as rich, greedy religious and corporate leaders manipulating simple, religious folk into hating each other so the leaders can gain power and profit? Or could the Creator of the Universe really be concerned over whether or not a woman covers her face or falls in love with another woman? How can some seem so sure of what the Creator of all things would approve or disapprove?

My family is all Christian, I am not. However I have always done Christmas with them, as it is a time for family, tradition and all of that. This year, we have moved to Colorado and we have set up to not have any family and I was feeling lonely. It turns out my brother (who lives in Colorado Springs - and I am in Denver) IS going to be home on Christmas - as is my sister from California. She, her fiance, and her boys were invited to my brothers and we weren't.

I tried to call them to let them know that we would be happy to come down, but they didn't really invite us and said they would call back. I haven't heard from them - so I guess we aren't invited. I was really hoping to see them.

Now I feel down and left out :(

*sigh*

I figured even if we didn't go down today - my sister will be there all week. But now I don't even think they want me to come. If they did, they would have invited me, right?

Here is a basic sketch of My beliefs
I am a born again Christian..I believe in God and Jesus beyond any doubt and I don't believe the creation of the Universe could have possibly been an accident.
i do not particularlry believe in Organized religion, I think most religions do just as much harm as good.
I beieve in prayer and i do so all the time.
However
I also listen to Hevy Metal Music...to Me it making a joyful noise unto The Lord
I drink, i'm drinking Jack Daniels right now actually.
i curse...I have read the bible 13 Times all the way through..I don't recall a verse saying "That shalt not use Harsh Language"
I believe that's a societal thing which has been imprinted into religion
I had all kind of premarital sex, i know that's a no no but I don't think God expects anyone to be 100% perfect
Oh, and I don't believe in forcing My beliefs down anyone's throat...If you're a Pagan, Wiccan, Atheist, Whatever..That's Fine
So...Am i going to Heaven or Hell..according to You?

How doth the earnest atheist
Cope sans God, faith, or Soul,
And pass up the baptismal font
And Heaven as a goal?

How worthily he lives his life
Yet never fears to pause
To search the skies for Jesus' arms
Or duck old Satan's jaws!

Is it un-Christianlike of me to be amused and think this is cheap?

My cousin is a dentist who makes probably $200,000 a year, at least. I make less than half of that.

His wife buys the gifts. They gave me ONE bar of soap.
Granted, it is a decorative bar....not Ivory or anything, but still....

I have almost no family.
I would have thought they could have sprung for something a bit more....you know.

(I gave them some nice kitchen towels and potholders.)

I know I ought to be thrilled with any gift, but this seems chintzy.

I am more amused than anything else.

My ex firmly believed by frequenting those places that stay open on Christmas Day, we were the cause of those employees not getting to spend their Christmas with their loved ones. So he flat refused to go anywhere on Christmas Day and felt everyone should have banded together as well and force those companies that stayed open on Christmas purely for profit to close. Whether I agree with him or not is not my question though, how do you feel on the matter is my question?
