Lol, so many times!! When I first took shahadah I wore whatever "Islamic" clothing I could get, and in a red-neck town, all I could come across was a black abaya. I was soooo not good at adjusting hijab, so I got an amira hijab that was white, and used the underscarf to stabilize the wrap scarf that came with the abaya, lol! I suppose it was more my fault than anything, lol! My grandpa worked at Walmart as a people greeter and whenever I'd come by to say hi, after I left all his friends would ask him "who's the nun?"
And, I don't mean this as stereotypical or anything, but Spanish people in my town are quite devout Catholics. I passed by one man at the grocery store who couldn't stop smiling at me, and when I pulled out to go home he blew me a great big kiss, lol!
But by all means, I'd much rather be mistaken as a nun than a terrorist! You just get more respect when people think ur a nun!

Try not to feel too bad...I was once with my Muslim friend and later on another of my friends asked "Who's the nun you were hanging out with earlier?"
It's not uncommon in communities where there are not a lot of Muslims to be mistaken for a nun.

That is so funny. As a matter of fact I was, one time recently by a 5 or 6 year old boy. He was at my job playing with his school group and he looked at me but was talking to one of his friends and said, in a very coy way, "she's a nun."As if he was trying to educate his friend. hahahahaha. I just bust out laughing as he ran away. Didn't get a chance to tell him that I was a muslim. But it's ok. Atleast he didn't call me something else.

Yes...I could not find the matching under scarf as I like them matched so I put the black Hijab over the white under scarf
not uncommon but where I live people are unaccustomed to seeing Muslim's our community is small and I was asked if I was a Nun.
