Even my husband, who is Mexican, doesn't know, and my father, who is from Cuba, doesn't know either. I can't seem to find it on the internet. Is there some kind of colloquialism for this word, and how would you say it?

Ok, I have seen this question asked a lot and I know the answer as to what Jehovah's Witnesses believe about the number 144,000 (Rev 7:4, 14:1)

But what do other religions believe? As a Catholic no one ever told me about this verse, I found it one day in the Bible and years later the JWs explained it to me.

So, what do YOU believe this number (and the verses) means??? (and please tell us whether that is the official stance of your religion or your personal opinion, thank you)

A kind request to the answerers and all interested to return to this question once in a while to "hear" what everyone else as to say too. We could all learn from this. :-)

Archbishop of Wales, Dr Barry Morgan, has made some comments that have offended some of us atheists. Read this short article and see what you think. Is this an attack our views? I pray to scientists that its not.

I am a Wiccan, and i believe in the Three Fold Law, but if someone is purposely destroying your life, is it bad to send some of that negativity back at them, like a karma spell? i dont mean like kill them, just bounce it back.

It seems, at least in some people's eyes, hordes of us are on the march. Unstoppable, unreasonable, not open to debate...

From a BBC news article.
Dr Barry Morgan [The Archbishop of Wales] said: "All of this is what I would call the new "fundamentalism" of our age. It allows no room for disagreement, for doubt, for debate, for discussion.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7156783.stm

Does he mean us?

But then he is also against "Biblical fundamentalism":
"God is not exclusive, he is on the side of the whole of humanity with all its variety."
Is that recognisably Christianity? Biblical Christianity?

Comments from atheists, athiests, Christians and others are welcome.

I am an applications support analyst making 14.15 per hour. Started a year and a half ago after graduating with a BA in Business Admin concentrating in Mgt information systems. Review was meeting expectation but only got a raise of $0.30!!this year.

When I asked why so less I was told that they started me at a pretty high rate and is unable to give me a large raise because the people who have been working here for 8 years only make about $1-2 more than me.

Obviously I am pretty upset about this and I feel that my hard work and ability has not paid off throughout the year and will be actively seeking for new employment with another firm. There is also no oppurtunities to move up. They said they do tuition reimbursement but when I asked about doing my MBA the program will not apply for MBA candidates. They only pay for BA's and there is a limit of $3500/year is reimbursement.

We did not get anything for xmas, no bonus at all. Just a $25 gift card from the dpt vp ouf of his pocket!

Is this a common position maintained by many? That

a) Christians object if stores do not wish ALL their customers "Merry Christmas," and

b) Christians object if non-Christians have celebrations that - for all intents and purposes - are a recognition of Christmas.

I know many people do not hold both of these opinions, but I'm interested in your comments regarding this appearance of hypocrisy.

Can someone help me understand?

I came home the other day and had 55 e-mails, all from yahoo about new answers to my Question. i did not ask for this facility.
I went onto edit and deleted same thing. They are still coming through, I again went onto edit, unticked the box, but the messages are still coming through! Why?
i would have posted this question on Yahoo but I am unsure as to which category I should be in.

trisigima 337, I agree that it is no harm in knowing the truth. I think it is hypocracy to teach your kids about a false Santa when the bible says thou shalt not lie or have any false God's before me. We know Christ was NOT born on Christmas, and this holiday is simply about commercialism, so go shopping until you're broke, over-eat, and complain to whomever will listen afterwards! (ha-ha)
